Looking to go to disneyland paris for the first time ever! Excited! It'll be 6 adults going. Hoping to stay in an apartment in central Paris, travel there a Thursday, Park all day Friday, come home Saturday. Hoping to manage this for less than £200pp.... think that's reasonable to manage?

Will be going September so should be mini tickets for the Fridays at least.... took me a while to find 1 park 1 day tickets too everywhere sells 1 day 2 park tickets (but plenty of people say you cant do the whole park in 1 day so trying to do 2 seems a bit ambitious....). Any tips for a first timer?
Trying to lose weight (13.5lb to go)

any reason why you want to stay in central paris if its DLP you're going for? There are many apartments in val d'europe area, which is one short train ride (less than 5 minutes) from DLP's gates. How are you getting to the Paris area? When are you thinking of going?

You can't do/see everything at DLP in one day - however, if you only have one day, and you're all adults, I'd get a 2-park ticket, because both parks have good rides in them (ie Tower of Terror in the Studios park, Big Thunder and Space Mountains in the main park).
  • Staying near disneyland was my first instinct, but then I thought if we stayed in central Paris it'd be easier to go see some Paris sights during the brief trip too, perhaps near Gare de Lyon so easy enough to get to DLP? If we arrive fairly early on the Thursday we should get an afternoon of looking around perhaps...

I think most of us will fly to CDG. Thinking of going in September haven't picked when exactly yet. I don't want to waste the money on a 2 park ticket if we don't get to go to studios park.... I might need to think about it more.

  • We went in November you wont do whole park in one day, they only managed 3 rides as ques were about an hour long. I wasted money on two parks.

thats very unusual for November, unless it was a Saturday, Sunday, or the days either side of Armastice Day.

30 minutes is my absolute limit for waiting for anything at DLP, and on my past November midweek trips the place has been pretty much deserted.

Easyjet fly into CDG, then you'll need transfers from the airport to your apartment, then you'll need to check the RER train fares out to DLP from the area you are staying.
The 2 parks at Disneyland Paris are right next to each other, ie less than 5 minutes walk, gate to gate.
  • Balletshoes. I'm back again. Unfortunately our trip back in November was cancelled due to the Paris attacks. We got as far as Heathrow travelodge on the Saturday night as we were all still happy to fly out and then Disney understandably closed until the Wednesday which was the day we were due to fly home :(
We intend to go back this year at Christmas, the problem I have now is DS will be in last year of college and is adamant he wont take time off to go, which I thoroughly respect. My question is, have you been in the week between xmas and New year, what was it like busy wise, or have you been in the week leading up to xmas. What was it like then. Which would you think would be the best time to go and do they ever have offers on for this time of year.
    Thanks again.

you might get an offer, but it won't be a great one, for between xmas and new year (ie maybe 20% off at a push). I wouldn't go between xmas and new year, as apparently after 26th december it just gets busier and busier every day until New Years Eve is a capacity crowd.

The latest I've left it to go to DLP in December was 14th, we went for 3 nights/4 days and it was fine and manageable (weather was dreadful, but that can happen at any time to be honest, in Northern Europe ;)).

Do you have any other timeframe when your son and the rest of your family's holidays match up?
  • Not really, only normal school holidays. The thing is I was desperate to go when it was Xmassy for my big birthday last year. The only time we could go out of school holidays is 7/8th November as the college has 2 teacher training days, with the weekend prior but Xmas doesn't start until 11th. Guess we may just have to compromise and go then and go for Xmas another time. :o

Having just come back from Disneyland, anyone booking double check which rides are open if you really, really want something specific.

Disney are doing a lot of upgrades etc this year and there is something big closed in almost each area. Last week:
    Thunder River
    Thunder Mountain
    Cinemagic
    Pirate Ship
    Family Robinson Tree
    Peter Pan Ride
Tram Tour (was only open on the Saturday)

Sadly, Its a Small World was still open and hadn't burnt to the ground.......
