Hi - I want to book an on-site hotel package, and have been looking at prices on the UK version of the DLP website. Price is coming in at £966 for 4 adults in October half-term at the Cheyenne, which sounds ok to me (half board plan is included). However, does anyone know any 'tricks' to get the same deal a bit cheaper? I believe DLP is on Quidco, and I've heard that booking through the French version of the DLP website works and can get you a better deal? Has anyone tried this, or does anyone know any other tricks?
quidco will only work if you use the UK version of the DLP site - but I believe its 5.5% at the moment, so a pretty good rate of cashback. Sometimes the French site is cheaper (it was for me) so have a look and see (they are doing one night free though, so that may not be as good a deal as the one you are getting on the UK site).
Also, when you got your price on the UK site, remember that sometimes a more expensive room type is automatically selected on the website, so look at "more room types" to see if changing that will save you a little more money.
Also, with the half board plan, it's only valid at a selection of restaurants. I heard I can use my meal vouchers as part-payment against a meal in another restaurant not in the selection? - is that true?
Thanks!
half board at the Cheyenne is half board standard - you can use those at cash value in any restaurant on the half board plan (a total of 19 restaurants in the parks, Village and onsite hotels). Its for table and buffet service restaurants only, you can't use the vouchers in counter service or non-Disney franchised restaurants in the resort.
This is the online DLP brochure - scroll down to page 61 for details of the half board plan, including the restaurants which accept the half board vouchers -

Hi,
I am looking to go to DLP in June, 2 adults, 1 child (doesn't go school until Sept 2014).
I am prepared to pay the 'extra' associated with flying and staying at one of the on-site hotels. So not looking to make savings by driving, staying far away etc.
However, I am flexible on the dates (almost anytime between May and August), actual hotel we stay at and meal plan and am prepared to pay extra if they are worth it.
I have searched prices on two websites - disneyholidays.co.uk and disneylandparis.com and come up with the below.
Thoughts and opinions please on if I can increase value for money or make savings, given what I am looking for:
Website disneyholidays.co.uk From 23/06/2014 To 28/06/2014 Nights 5 Hotel Disney's Hotel New York Room Type Plaza Airport BHX / CDG Outbound 0920 / 1140 Inbound 1845 / 1905 Half Board Included Full Board Yes (£260) Transfers Not sure Total 2,169.24
Website disneylandparis.com From 23/06/2014 To 28/06/2014 Nights 5 Hotel Disney's Hotel New York Room Type Plaza Airport BHX / CDG Outbound 0920 / 1140 Inbound 1845 / 1905 Half Board Included Full Board Yes (£260) Transfers Yes (£90) Total 2,407.280 -

a couple of things - don't pay £260 for full board, when half board is already included in the price. You won't spend £260 on lunches in the parks, I guarantee it.
Also Plaza room at Hotel New York isn't worth paying extra for, its just a standard room with a view.
If there is no option to pick a standard room at the Hotel New York, how much is the Sequoia Lodge Golden Forest room for the same dates? This has perks like one free extra fastpass per person per day, free drinks and pastries in the afternoons, character breakfast included in the Golden Forest guest-only breakfast room each day, and the rooms have coffee machines etc. The Sequoia Lodge is also the most recently refurbished hotel onsite.
You've picked a good week for your trip - just before the Scottish/Spanish/Italian/Irish schools come off on holiday I believe.
I would also look at booking your flights separately, direct with the airline, and then booking your hotel/park tickets/breakfast package with one of the sites you've quoted. I don't know many people who book it all as one package, transport included. Most of us find booking it separately works out better/cheaper/more convenient.0 -

Thanks balletshoes, for this. I'll re-price the options you have suggested and post the results.
As a side question for now, are there any other websites I should get prices from that you would recommend?
I was suprised to see that the two websites I did look at (disneyholidays and disneylandparis) had significantly different prices for exactly the same package.
I initially assumed they would have used the same "pricing engine" (if thats the right phrase) as I thought it was utlimately the same company, just using 2 different web addresses.0 -
I,m not that familiar with the sites you,ve looked at ~ i usually look at the official dlp website ~ disneylandparis.co.uk ~ then compare with walt disney travel company and clippers quay travel.
i dont get quotes including transport though as in my experience its cheaper doing the flights separately.0 -

it looks like Sequoia Lodge Golden Forest lakeview (ie top of the range at the Sequoia Lodge) is significantly cheaper for your dates compared with the Hotel New York ie £1424 for the Sequoia Lodge compared with £1764 for the Hotel New York. These prices are on the official DLP website now -
http://www.disneylandparis.co.uk/index.html
Add air france flights from BHX with your preferred times at around £400 total including a couple of hold bags, booked direct with Air France, and your total, for a better value holiday, is £1824.
If thats suits you, I'd advise you to book it sooner rather than later - that Sequoia Lodge price is 30% off and free half board included, so it won't be around for long - its a good price.0 -

Thanks for this.
Just been on the offical DLP website and the prices you had for the Sequoia, I get too. However, I got a slightly lower price for the New York, £1,693.20.
So currently, the NY seems £268.70 more expensive, (£54 per night) than the Sequoia.
If you had the money, would you pay the extra £270 or is it simply not worth it?
Flights - On DLP own website, they charge £348 for flights (plus optional £90 transfer). When I went on Airfrance website, exact same flight plan cost £342, so only £6 difference. Did I miss something? Is it wrong to assume baggage allowances will be different when booked thru DLP or Direct? Also £90 a fair/reasonable price for transfer cost.
So far, there doesn't seem to be big savings to be had by booking flights separately, unless I've missed something.
You're right, these prices do look very good and I will book soon, Just need conformation I can take the holidays from work!0 -

The Golden Forest rooms at the Sequoia Lodge are a class above the rooms at the HNY - I would definitely go for Golden Forest.

if you want to book the flights through DLP for such a small price difference, do what you think is right for you. I had assumed that were would be other carriers cheaper than Air France, but apparently not (unless another carrier/airport is closer to you?).
The DLP £90 transfer is by VEA coach - which is now the slowest method of transfer between the airport and your Disney hotel. I would choose to pay roughly the same price and pre-book a shared shuttle with rstransports, much more convenient and a very good chance you won't share with any other party.

hope you can get your holidays.

Thanks again balletshoes.
Hotel - Based on your advice, I'll go for the Sequoia, thanks for the insider tip.
Flights - I'lll look more tomorrow (getting computer fatigue now) but there doesn't seem to be too many options from BHX to CDG. There appears to be other airlines that service that route but according to Expedia, they are more expensive.
Tranfers - is the website for the company you mentioned - http://www.rstransports.com/ - ? Been on there and they are indeed quoting 88.2EURO. The Sequoia is not listed on their drop down list of Disneyland hotel choices but I assume thats not an issue. I can just free type in the full address?
Again, thanks for the tip on the transfers option.
Think thats all covered. Appreciate all the help and if the boss says yes to the time off, I'll be booking straight away!0
