This afternoon I'm pulling together MSE's senior management and techie team to try and come up with a more robust solution so we can kick this to touch.

I can't promise we'll get it done by tomorrow - but I can promise we're now putting grown up resources in place to try and sort it. I'm going to ask the forum team to give you updates via this thread.

Again, sorry for the inconvenience, we haven't dealt with this to the level you should expect from us.

MSE, please post updates on the spam thread as well as this one otherwise the updates may not be seen by all the people who have been working unpaid for you for months trying to sort the problem.

Martin's apology should have been posted to Torbrex's thread if it was genuine and not a new thread started.

Probably not helpful, but a workaround at the time was to make sure you had font support for these languages installed in OS X. A test (as you have a failing system and I don't ) is to install some on windows to see if it still fails OmniGlot has a collection of them!

Hi everyone,

By way of update, some fixes have been implemented today. We can't go into detail in case the spammers are watching but we'll be monitoring to see how things are in the morning.

It's still a work in progress but hopefully the measures we've put in place today should stem the flow.
