LOL! :rotfl:
Sorry it cost you £60 to find out though0 -
Is there one of these on the pipe heading to the shower?. If so you can turn the water off just to the shower.
Replacing the seals on the shower screen may be possible. Much cheaper than a new screen.0 -
Thanks. I'll have a look. Though not sure that it is the shower causing the problem - could be the bath. I'll have a look and post.0

I can see a few of those. Some seem lead to the bath taps and I can't see where the others go. The shower is above the bath, which is next to the basin so it's hard to see which ones relate to what!
Where do pipes to shower usually end up? leading through the ground next to bath tap pipes?0 -
Good point re the shower screen seals. It was unclear when they were testing it whether water was pouring through the seals or down the wall ie leak in a pipe. I find showers very confusing as everything is hidden! AT least plumbing for taps is fairly basic.0

Looking confused may encourage oversized quotes. Try looking litigious.0 -

I'm easily confused, so will try not to mistake that for lascivious...
:rotfl:
Thanks for the technical info., I will leave you to help AliceBanned now. I was just here to provide light entertainment until someone knowledgable turned up!

Thanks Norman. I try to find out more myself etc so not to get ripped off.
Have since phoned yesterday cowboys and the are refunding £50 into my account. I let them have ten to cover petrol. Had big argument on phone and sure they might have used me being alone and not that aware against me but i used them being 3 and male against them as they did nothing. Ten mins then removing bath panel is a joke. I wasn't having it. They said i shd have called if leak came back i said 'no you dhould have done something in that hour other than quote me for expensive work!!'0 -
Im such a pushover sometimes but if it dawns on me afterwards i try to repair the damage by going ballistic and fighting my corner. 😈0

Well - this is a turn up for the books - the leak is coming from the flat above. Nice helpful plumber had a thorough look. Had to take the shower out as said it is dangerous. Water has been running from a leak upstairs and he showed me where it is running - the plasterboard and insulation are soaked.
The neighbours upstairs are tenants and I have no idea how to contact the landlord or what to do. I've left a note as the tenants aren't in, telling them (as plumber said) that it is fairly urgent and they need to turn off the water so that we can see whether it stops, and it is damaging both floors below.
It doesn't show as much on my ceiling as it does below but that is just because the water is escaping through a gap and running over the tiles in mine as well as behind the bath.
So what do I do, claim compensation through my contents insurance (once it is proven, presuming plumber is right but he seemed to know his stuff)?0
