As long as you kept on eye on the trio and no one wandered off. Don't want you finding out someone's tea leafed something later?
I trust no one me0 -
Thanks General query.
In hindsight I don't think I want them to go ahead. I checked out their online profile and they don't even have GasSafe.
So I will be getting a few more quotes. They have to be written. I agree, something dodgy about no written quote. I have spent £60 but I don't think that matters too much even though I don't really have it - as I wanted to make sure there was no major leak into the downstairs flat.
They seemed in quite a rush to come and do it all (ie this weekend!) and later on said 'I'm not trying to pressure you'. I would never agree to more complex work, without further research.0 -

I don't think so. They seemed polite etc but it was a bit odd the 3 of them turning up like a bunch of clowns.0 -
The grouting or whatever it is around the outside of the shower unit is a bit messy looking - as though there is a problem with shower inside. It had gone wrong recently so it does all make sense. If I stop using the shower for a few days and the walls dry out, (but I use the bath) then I will know it is that. They have left the bath panel off, so I'll be able to keep an eye on it.
Yes it seems a lot but the extra work is my choice. I just want the right people to do it though, and to quote me in writing. I'll ask around locally and try to find someone reliable. Not sure yet whether it is worth just replacing the shower unit and shower screen and having the grouting done and leaving the rest (ie pump etc) but it has been a pain for a while having very low hot water pressure. It just seems ludicrous. They were saying the flats are so nice but the plumbing appalling - the developers clearly didn't care that much. They are one bed flats so maybe they think people who live in them are happy without the full comforts of a house ie decent bath and shower. Bit silly really.0 -
I find clowns scary :eek:0

Are you still in Hertfordshire? (sorry, just went through some of your other posts to find your whereabouts!).
Have you seen this?

I would definitely get some other quotes.
Looks like it's just you and me in this thread so far. Wish I could help you : /

Thanks General. I have found someone else through Rated People. These websites are just marketing tools for tradespeople but what can you do?! Anyway the second guy has very good reviews and sounded much more sensible on the phone.
The neighbour came up to tell me that the leak had re-started whilst I was on the phone to him! No doubt because I put the water back on, on the recommendation of the 3 clowns. I've turned it off again. The damp patch on the ceiling looks a bit worse with a yellowish stain.
Second plumber advised me keep water off. He said sounds like leak in the pipework to shower and he can take the shower out and sort it tomorrow if it is that or another leak in a pipe somewhere. He sounds much more understanding.
Thanks yes I am still in Hertfordshire. I think I removed that for some reason. The guy in Hertford looks like a good plumber - more credentials than the ones I've contacted. If I have further work done I might contact him for a quote. It is doing my head in at the mo and I initially just need to get the leak stopped. Second plumber who is coming tomorrow said I may have to go without shower for a while and just use the bath. Will see what he can fix and will post an update tomorrow.
Thanks for all your help, it is much appreciated.0 -

Lol me too. That's why I'm not inviting them back, the chancers!0 -
Feel I was robbed of £60 today and it's annoying. It only happened because I was anxious as it was affecting the flat below - but these cowboys play on that don't they?! Eventually I will find a decent plumber, after being ripped off by two so far since I've been in this flat (well 4, if you include 3 clowns).0

Well, I sincerely hope you do get it sorted out once and for all, and from a reliable plumber too.
I don't drink, but I'll raise a glass to your hopeful success story!
