Leak into downstairs flat

Hi
My new neighbour downstairs is renting the flat and informed me just now about a patch of water on the ceiling - it is in the area above where my bath taps and shower are. He said it has got bigger in the past 24 hours. It is about 12" long and 6" wide. I've posted the add on Rated Traders but I know these websites don't always find you reliable traders - it is just fairly urgent I guess.
A plumber is coming at around 2pm.
I've never been in this situation before and know it can turn out a nightmare. Will the landlord below be able to claim expenses from me? The ceiling just looks damp in that small patch at the mo. To be honest my ceiling looks like it has had that issue in the past from above but nothing too serious.
I'm a bit worried - the plumber advised me he would come and quote and do the work straight away if he could. I have never found a plumber who charged fairly but I suppose I have to just go with it as he can get here quickly.. any advice? I have had one or two other texts from other companies but as far as I can tell all plumbers will rip me off anyway, being a woman on my own in this situation.:(

You should switch the water off at the stop !!!! and inform the LL to get a plumber themselves!"if the state cannot find within itself a place for those who peacefully refuse to worship at its temples, then it’s the state that’s become extreme".Revd Dr Giles Fraser on Radio 4 20170

Can you remove the bath panel?. If you can you should be able to see whats leaking.0

Could be something as straight forward as the overflow pipe on the bath has come loose (happened to me from the flat above mine).
Everytime tenant had a bath, and he must have overfilled it everytime, instead of the excess bath water going down along the overflow hole at the top of the bath between the two taps and joined up with the bath water out pipe, it flowed down the overflow pipe and all over the floor. As time went on the pool of water got so big it found it's way down through into my flat below.
Good luck in getting in sorted.
And if you're a "woman on her own", be firm and watch what he does to fix it reducing chances of being ripped off. He'll still charge you a bomb for coming out but at least you can see what was up (if a simple problem).
You can always mention your boyfriend will be home later?
Keep up informed Alice :A0 -

Had a leak 2 months ago under my bath, plumber charge me £60 for one visit to investigate, and another visit for sorting it out.
it takes him about 2 hrs overall.

While the rest of us are patiently awaiting the diagnosis (plumber should be with her right now), just found a few related waterworks problem threads she has posted previously on here.
Any link to her current predicament people?
