New thread here (ta-daaahhh!)
Hope everyone has had a good day - had a NSD today, struggling a bit with stomach pain but managing it with the obligatory hot water bottle. Also got paid today, so spending the evening messing around with my budgetshort but sweet - have a good evening!

Evening all,
Wow the only girl, that's a huge amount in one month - well done to you and OH. Also a huge well done on getting to 21 SFDs!
Well done on your credit card shuffle bob
Nice to 'see' you syn, sorry to hear you've been down lately but glad you have a nice busy weekend planned. Well done on your payments.
Thanks for the new thread academia
Managed another SFD today so I'm up to 15, which I'm pleased about as was worried it would be lower but also disappointed as I know I have done 20 once or twice before. Feeling a bit meh today so I'm off to put my feet up and curl up on the sofa.LBM = 07/09/13 Debt = £13339 (100% cleared)

Thanks fmess. If all goes to plan, we hope to pay £400 by the end of August, and the final payment by the end of September. And we will be debt-free!!! I can't wait. I just wish there's a way to speed up this process without resorting to another debt. NOTE TO SELF: keep calm and be patient. The DFD will come!
I had an interesting conversation with a colleague from a different department. She said they are trying to hire somebody to be part of their team. It would be a 9-5 job and no weekends. A slightly lower income than what I get now (an even further reduction from my locum income) but gives opportunity to a more family friendly, healthier and structured job. To be honest I was very disappointed with my most recent payslip, 2 months after I took this permanent post (sorry for going on about it again). All my night shifts, weekends, midnight finishes only gave me an additional £150 to my basic pay (net) which made me think out of hour shift work just doesn't pay much for all the upheavals they cause to my health and my family and social life. For example last month I did 2 night shifts, 3 weekends, and a couple of hours overtime and I had £150 enhancement pay? This government has just taken the mick. Two years ago, before I took up locuming, we used to get at least £1000 on top of our basic pay, now it's down to less than £200?!? And sad to say, a lot of the NHS workers just embrace it because they have no choice! To say that I am very confused is an understatement."There is Life AFTER DEBT."LBM 2009 Total Debt £49046.24 Debt Free as of 27/08/20150 -
It's the final day...and a huge thank you to Bob for an awesome and thoroughly enjoyable challenge :T:T:T
I'm taking dd swimming today, so no last NSD. But I shall allocate monies for swimming for August so that I can claim those NSDs!
Operation Tidy Up is well underway here: dss + gf arrive from Australia (via Vietnam) on Tues and need a place to dump all their gear and their weary bodies. Dd is soooo excited to have them staying for a bit. And dh is juggling work, tidying (it is mostly his gubbins), us, and his job needing him to go abroad at short notice. Freecycle is my friend and it is very satisfying to remove stuff from the house. We also have 2 charity shop bags and a box for 'going to the tip stuff'.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
tog - fantastic debt-busting. A massive well done to you and the tog family for keeping on with it. Hope your work situation finds a speedy resolution for you. Would you 'cope' with normal hours?!
nannyg - well done on all the walking. Hope your joints are ok today.
Fmess - hugs. Hope the meh-ness goes away and you have a lovely day.
Syn - hope August is better all round for you - hugs.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
The Only Girl -I can completely see where you are coming from. It must be incredibly hard to make the choice you have. To go from unsociable hours for good pay to unsociable hours for little extra.
Personally I think I'd weigh it all up. You are almost out of debt so could you afford to take the lower paid regular hours job? But then what would it mean to your family if you were out of debt AND you had the extra cash that locuming brings? Could you go back to lo uming for 12 months, bank all the extra and THEN take a lower paid but steady job?
It's very hard to decide.
I am very cash driven. Always have been. As in I will almost always chose extra money over comfort. Like working all of last weekend even though it means today is my 13th working day with no break. But I did it because I could give my family extra cash for their break away. I think some people need more rest and down time for their health. If you feel you could work harder again for more cash for a certain period then why not? But if you feel after years of doing it anyway you've had enough and can make that choice then don't let the money interfere too much.
I hope that is some kind of help.

Thanks for an amazing month Bob sorry I sloped off towards the end - back still playing up and getting me a bit down now. Spent yesterday as freezer empty and needed food for tea. Today will be another spend day a dog needs food.
Freezer defrosting as we speak, hopefully can bend a bit by later on it the day to clean it out.
Was going to do a monthly shop with Sainsbob's but seeing as I haven't be sent any vouchers this month, will see if I can do monthly shop in lidl? So much difference on prices.
Thanks for the turtle team for support and encouragement when needed and Bob for pushing us out of our comfort zone.
