Hello... sheepishly wandering back in again.

Gluten-free worked well but I didn't think it was. Yes, I am an eejit. So, I stopped it, went away for three nights and pretty much scratched my skin raw.
So... decision made and going to stick with gluten free. And try harder.
    :undecided

Thank you very much for the link to the gluten free thread. Away to read that just now. The plan is to go through all the foods that I eat to see what I can still eat whilst being gluten free.
    :)

Whilst away shopping with my cousin, I decided to try some vitamin tablets that I had seen advertised.
Basically, since having my episode of stress, my hair has started thinning. So hopefully these tablets will fix that. I really hope they work.
    :(

Money wise... it has been a bit of a disaster really. I am not quite sure what is going on in my head but I seem to have the same thought process as a couple of others on here that once it is destroyed, there is no point in trying to rein it in.
Really need to learn to control these thoughts better.
    :o

In good news... I paid £340 to my credit card debt this month which leaves me with £1650 left to pay.
Following Rome + Download, I still owe OH £540. Need to pay this off ASAP.
    :embarasse

So... a little bit of a story for you. Coming from where we do, our music festival costs £900 to attend if you include fuel and tickets.
I have had a dream of going to New York for many years. Blame films... they have fueled this love affair.
So, instead of going to a festival for five days, we are going to New York instead. Absolutely ecstatic and cannot wait.
    :j

I know it is not very money-saving orientated and I am sorry but cannot wait. This is our 2016 treat.
    :D

Not to sound cliche... but the diet started today. I will lose weight in time for New York and will be so much healthier. This is going to be amazing.

Bob how amazing are you doing? I will never catch up now.

Stewby New York is amazing, you could always fit in a gig there. I did. Want to go somewhere next yr so need to get focused next month and stop spending. Hard not to get stressed out, nice to have something to look forward to.

Fmess plan nice walks set targets to walk each day. I want to do a coastal path when my back is recovered fully.

I did go to the other house but had to use the bus (£1 each way). Even DS3 said I didn't look well enough to leave the house. Didn't manage to fix the cupboard doors - lovely screws held the hinges in place but were 'too' long and pierced through the front of the door. Did lots of other cleaning and arranged stems and berries in front window (thought it looked bare and 'unlived in') and on the kitchen window sill - day was so dull and rainy thought it needed a little sunshine. Luckily one of the shrubs I planted last year has produced loads of starry yellow blooms.

Slept all afternoon and intend to relax tomorrow. If I can walk I will see if the old hardware shop has more of the screws in a shorter length - technically they are 'wrong' but practically they work. Otherwise I will have to come up with something else. Must be kinder to my body.

Today I am grateful for the sunshine blooms growing in both gardens, for being able to keep going (pure stubbornness) and for my wonderful bed.

Well done on your debt payments Bob and academia

    Welcome back Stewby

Thanks for the suggestions Bob and Calling - I am working 3 days this week but then have 2 weeks off (at the moment but have offered to work if they need me). I am planning lots of decorating, painting the garden fence and definitely some long dog walks :) Will look into volunteering as I used to volunteer and meant to look for something new when my old group finished but never got round to it.

Today has been very spendy but I sensed a day like this was coming. I felt like I needed to put a bit more of me into my house, so whilst I was being paid to go to ikea for work, I picked up a few bits for me, but that opened the flood gates and I've also been to dunelm twice! The only good thing is that this has all come out of my marking money and has not caused any debt :) I'm not sure if it's a mid life crisis or a anti-masculine statement, but I am now the proud owner of a (cheap) chandelier! I love it! it's so twinkly!

Anyway off to the naughty step!

    Morning All

Don't forget, if you want your efforts included in the grand final goal of NST collectively paid off/saved £££s in July to post up soon! If you want to see how we've done I have been amending page 1 next to the sign ups. Will tally up on thursday evening finally.

Mothernerd - please take care of yourself.

Stewby- welcome back. Well done on your payments for the month. I certainly see where you are coming from on the feeling of having messed up therefore not being inspired to continue. Is there a way to recapture your mojo when that happens? I have found the PAD thread very motivating this month having never done it before. Could the idea of paying even £1 to the debt cheer you on? I'm just thinking out loud really. Anyway NY will be a fantastic destination for your hols next year.

Calling - you will probably overtake me again at some point. I find its that way with repayments. Some months better than others. I'm with the costal path walk thing too. I wanted to do the entire SW coastal path but have had so little time for walking since I set up the business.

Fmess - so happy for you having a chandelier to cheer you up sounds great.

If you haven't checked in for a while but are still reading do post and tell us how you are getting on.

When is the deadline for the numbers, Bob? I'm going home today (yippee!!!!!!!!!!!!) so can get them to you by tomorrow, if that;s ok? I have crunched some numbers, but ended up with 2 different totals (!) so want to do it again.

I'm happy and willing to set up August if you want. I have a few ideas floating around inside my head. Don't want to be pushy, mind!

ps: I have looked back to May and no-one was on the list there for after you, Bob, so maybe a call out for volunteers would be handy?

  • Bob, my stretch was £450 but as of today I've saved £460, hoping this will be £490 by Thursday (payday) - you have done fantastically this month, well done. Fmess, chandelier not very MSE but I bet it's so sparkly, which is much better! I love shiny things, I'm like a magpie :DStewby, I'm saving for New York (taking OH as a surprise) - you'll have to let me know where all the good places are!
Having a rough day at work today - feeling really undervalued. I know they're really reluctant to just throw loads of work my way (as I only started in February) but there are only two days a week where I really have work to do and the rest of the time I'm twiddling my thumbs. Not fair on me, or on them having to pay me! Am going to nag at the boss for more work next week when he gets back, tell him how little I have to do :( sorry, rant over.
I'm happy to do August if nobody else was down for it?

That's wonderful offers Academia/apple muncher sure to be snapped up.

Apologies I was going to raise my paw and offer but second day back in work and sciatica is making my life hell today. Just been for a walk around town to try and loosen it. Roll on hometime, tomorrow I remember some pain killers.

Spent today 99p needed another bday card for another brother. It's my oldest daughters birthday today so making me feel old she's 31.

Bob one of my friends did whole of Anglesey one in a week. Hard going 125 miles in total, I was hoping to break it down over 6 months. They got a certificate for doing it as well.Wishful thinking at the moment. Feeling fed up and in pain.

Fmess like the chandelier sounds very grand. Nice to give your home your personality. Not a fan of clean cut lines, can look very cold. Remember last winter was in one of our show houses just loved coming home to my cozy tip.

Have a good day folks x

Well yesterday didn't end up being a NSD - I had a moment yesterday afternoon where I decided that I didn't want the fruit that I'd taken with me, I wanted chocolate and crisps. Popped to the shops on my break and ended up spending almost £10 :o I definitely followed the thought of well the food budget was blown anyway so what does it matter.

Today has been a NSD though and I've got a kettlebells class this evening. Should still hopefully make the NSD target for this month, not quite so sure about the gym one.

I'll be able to post my totals for the month tomorrow :D
    Mortgage 26.4.25 - £108,500  1.8.25 - £106,362.86

    Hi All

Apple - If you could post your numbers by the evening of the 30th (thursday) then I can round the challenge off Friday. Thanks so much for your offer of volunteering. At the moment its you or AcademiaBlues who have offered. So does 1 of you want to August & one September? Apple you just did June, so maybe Academia if you dont mind??

Calling - You poor thing. I really am sorry you are feeling so rubbish. Your friends achievement is amazing. The entire SW coastal path is 630 miles from Minehead in Devon to Poole in Dorset apparently. I dallied a little around the Ilfracombe leg of the path, but only knocked out around 10 miles.
My longest trail walk to date was taking part in the Speyside Challenge in 2006, which is a 54 mile walk in 24 hours from Aviemore to Spey Bay in Elgin. It was incredible, and also mental to literally walk for a whole day with stops to pee & change my socks every 5 miles or so. I completed in 22 hours, & was pretty much delirious by the end. But the scenery was incredible. Hope you will soon be better to walk for leisure again.

Academia - The fact you hit your target, stretch target & are stretching again goes to show something doesnt it. Giving ourselves a number to hit, & keep hitting is really motivational I think, like those thingies they tow around in front of Greyhounds, that they never catch but chase and chase! & thanks for your kind comments on me.

MissTara - It happens. The fact you tried matters anyway. People who dont care live like that every day. You dont.

Well. A big one for me today. I have started to use some of the insurance funds to chop off the debt. This doesnt count for this month though I think. Im going to account it for August. So £333 paid off CC2, which means CC2 is gone. Completely. For ever. As of today. Little jump. Plus I just hit a milestone too. Under £4,000. Yip and E.
