Fmess, it's still early days 2months wasn't long ago, you are doing fine. It's a grieving process and will take time, so hang in there.
Nannyg£1 a day 2025: £90.00/365 Xmas fund0 -
Hi all sorry I have been MIA during the last 2 days. Been doing late shifts (11pm finish) and it's not fun getting home at midnight and knackered. On the positive side I have managed to bag additional 2 SFD's - I'm now up to 18/20. :j:j:j and with 5 days to go, I am hoping to meet my target and more.
Nothing much to report apart from the said SFD's. DS1 came back from Italy safely and with lots of lovely photos to remember his trip by (haven't seen them yet due to my unsociable shift patterns ). Oh and he returned with €40 unspent. :T. So proud of him to have come back with some left over money.
As for the debt repayment, this month I have paid £625 so far, and it's now down to £1123 (haven't updated my sig yet). I reckon I can still put together an amount of £350 before the month ends to meet my stretch target of £800. i think this is the biggest debt repayment we have ever done during our journey since our LBM not including the £1300 and £899 we paid to Littlewoods for the laptop and telly which we had on Buy Now, Pay Later plan before I joined the MSE forum. Back to my last cc debt, if the above extra payment of £350 will be achieved, the debt will be down to £800 (including interest). I wish I could say we could get it paid in one swoop but that will be very optimistic, wishful and not very realistic. A very quick post just to say that today has been a NSD 16/20
working all day today so will catch up properly with everyone's news tomorrow. Night all.
Mortgage 26.4.25 - £108,500 1.8.25 - £106,362.86
Mortgage overpayment savings - £3.33/£50
Mortgage overpayments so far - £675.980 -
Fmess/Calling - hope your dogs are on the mend soon.
Abundant/WelshKitty - this debt busting is like dieting imo, if you stray off plan you think 'oh well I may as well blow it in style now' and once you get to target it is so easy to start going backwards again.
Apple - I am concerned about the interest rates too.
I will be off the grid until Friday now so have a good week all.Debt Free and now a saver, conscious consumer, low waste lifestyler
Fashion on the Ration 28/660 -
The Only Girl - I won't put that figure in just yet then if you don't mind. I have every faith in you making a few more karate chops to the debt before the 31st
On that note as people have started to get paid, I suppose we are coming to an end of The Bucket and Spade Boogie. Does anyone know if we have a volunteer host of the thread for August yet?
Dolly - have a wonderful trip.
Up and breakfasted. Today we had stale pastries courtesy of the shopI do spoil us. We'll they were fine actually. Just reheated them and applied liberal servings of butter. Currently marinating myself in coffee as my night had more ups and downs than I care to mention.. oh well...
I need to make a decision tommorow on what to do with the insurance payout. It isn't enough to do a big thing like clear a huge debt or finish off the repayment of my business debt (I am a slave to HMRC back payments till January) but having given it much consideration I think I'd rather KO a chunk of our personal debt anyway. My thinking, I am a LTD company anyway and although I aim not to go bust, if I did....but debt on our name affects our prospects for years.
I think OH wishes we could enjoy some of it as he has recently made comments about wishing we could make the here and now nicer. But I feel the opposite. That if we don't grab opportunity like this with both hands then we will never get to a genuinely easy stage.
I suppose it relates to how different personality types deal with being in debt. To me, I want to be making plans for MFW next or certainly in the coming few years. Baby 2 coming in October is another huge life event to focus the mind. Anyway I'm rambling again.....
suffice to say I sometimes think more money can be very confusing rather than suddenly enlightening.
Back later!

Morning everyone,
Well impressed with the SFD count people are notching up... I can make 20 if I only have 1 more spend day between now and 31st... I can do this!!!
Welshkitty - re porridge. I'm in the same boat - I make it up and it tastes like wallpaper paste (not that I go around eating that mind!). I now add cinamon, and frozen fruit (blueberries and summer fruits are often not too expensive). It helps cool the porridge after it has been nuked too. I have added protein powder in (that I use to make my shakes for the gym) too which was... interesting. The best tip is to remind yourself 'how good it is for you' as you try to eat it lol. Hey - if it was good enough for Goldilocks...
Lazy day planned for today... rain has hit, so I'm staying in with a good book.

Thanks for a warm welcome, sorry that I haven't posted for a week or so.
My NSD's are going well. Trying to save but it is not going well, I am waiting for OH to pay me back some money that he owes me which I will be getting next weekend. That money will be going in to my saving pot.
The good news is that I have finally resigned from my job after receiving clearance from a post that I was offered a while ago. I am starting mid September so will have a couple of weeks break before starting the other job. The money is more or less the same but the job is much less stressfull than my current job. I am looking forward to do a job with less responsibilities.
Today I am grateful for our slow cooker that is cooking our dinner right now.
Off to enjoy the rest of my Sunday. No toiletries challenge, started 18/1/2010 - Putting £1 in my savings jar for every item that I use up. Pot 1 to 4 = £261. Pot 5=£23

Hope you enjoyed your snuggly day Abundant. And great you can hit your target:beer:
Becky - Glad to hear about your new job. Sounds like things are looking up!
Fmess - Isn't it great when it's such poor weather it feels like staying home is the best choice naturallythank you by the way. Going to sleep on it and then make my move tommorow.
Shift went well. £5.50 in tips. Free lunch and coffee. Used my money in Mr T to buy a chicken and some YS lamb steaks and YS kale to go with our roast. So the chicken will do for another meal plus stock and soup in the week. Have given £50 to OH for their 3 days away this coming week. I think that's plenty as all their meals will be at the grandparents and they've already paid for train tickets (£24 in advance bought via The train line. Com) if they go into the city then they will be travelling with my husbands parents so no cost there either. It leaves me £40 to decide where best to use.
Currently relaxing watching a Scooby Doo movie with my son. Life is pretty good right now.

I just lost a very long post grrrr.
Good evening fellow turtles,
It was also a lazy day today. Nothing much done yet, and the ironing mountain is yet to be conquered - SOON!
Not a SFD today although not hugely spendy. Popped in to local Asder shop and picked up a few items. It was a case of being in the right place at the right time. When I got there, one of their staff was busy yellows stickering and I grabbed whatever I can. Got a couple of tiger breads for 10p each, my favourite walnut twirls and blueberry muffins for 2p each, a box of cheese and tomato quiche for 10p and 3 packs of 20-pcs beef meatballs for 50p each, 3 whole roast chickens for £2.50 and a few vegetables and fruits (not YS) but will upload receipt on checkoutsmartapp (thanks bob). All in all, four carrier bags for only £13. Some are already in the freezer and the whole week's LTW already sorted.
It was my first experience to battle it out with others on the yellow stickered products. It was quite a cut-throat affair, one lady used her 10yr old daughter to elbow everybody out of her way to fill her trolley with ys products. She did pass one or two items my way so she wasn't all bad. Note to self: visit the bigger Asder grocery store, put on my best charming smile and squeeze the staff of the insider information as to the best day and time for the yellow sticker loots.
I also used my Orchard voucher of £3 off for Texco finest dessert. I picked up a chocolate and caramel tart for £4 and a pack of tortilla and paid only £2. Not bad at all. Tried to womble but there was none in side except what was next to the security guard. Didn't risk being embarrassed by the security guard so I had to let that go..
The ironing mountain is yet to be conquered. And conquer it I will - soon, ehmmm like now!!! Or else they won't iron themselves.
I will be almost a normal human being this week, working 9-5 Monday to Thursday, late shift on Friday (12-8pm) and extra shift (overtime) on Saturday. Looking forward to car sharing with hubby this week, meaning savings on Petrol. :money:
I can hear my name being called - by the ironing horse! Ta ra everyone! Night night!"There is Life AFTER DEBT."LBM 2009 Total Debt £49046.24 Debt Free as of 27/08/20150
