Would heartily recommend "Big Sands" in Gairloch N.Scotland.
Lovely site on beach huge loads of touring pitches and tent pitches either in dunes or nearer site.
Loads of facilities
In "cool camping" book, would also recommend it too.
Cost us £13 a night for 2 tents:heartpulsOnce a Flylady, always a Flylady:heartpuls0 -
calling all dog owning caravanners...if you join the caravan club, dogs are free on thier club sites..as i have 3 dogs and go for over 22 days a year i save approx £66-£90 a year there!! as some none caravan club sites want up to £1.50 per dog.
Plus there are also doggy walks and poo bins all supplied on a lot of the sites.TO FINISH LAST, FIRST YOU HAVE TO FINISH....0 -
we go on the caravan club CLs which are fantastic. the only time ive stayed on an actual cc site was when we stayed at abbey wood in london one october and it was fantastic cheap way of seeing london, train station a 5 min walk away which takes you straight into central london and they sell the travel saver cards on site.'We're not here for a long time, we're here for a good time0

Just be aware before you part with the £30+ to join!
yes ,but as the previous poster said ..."use the 5 van sites" ...this is where you will make the good savings.....not as many facilities as the official sites but quite often in quiet secluded spots and somewhere safe to camp.0 -
For any members of the Caravan Club. If you've not bothered to look in the little brochure "explore Britain and Ireland", there's a voucher there for 2 nights free an a Haven site. We had 2 nights on their blackpool site for free all barring a £3 (I think) admin fee. Not really our cup of tea but the children had a ball.
Certainly concur the the 'campingcheques' and the CL's and CS's (Certificated Locations and Certificated Sites licensed by the Caravan Club and the Camping and Caravan Club respectively.
Don't forget that you can use the Clubcard deals for Ferry Crossings so using the Campingcheques and the clubcard deals your holiday price is vastly reduced. Some of the campingcheques sites in Europe accept the cheques at the Whit holiday as it does not coincide with their holiday.
It's my first post of any substance. Second dearest subject to my heart ahfet moneysaving!

The great thing about caravanning is that once youve paid out for a caravan (approx 5k would get you a class caravan with all creature comforts)you can have a holiday /short break whenever it pleases you .
We have four kids and as such could never afford a package holiday we use park resorts alot they have play areas kids clubs and adult entertainment aswell , swimming pools, we payed approx £300 for two weeks, last week of july 1st week in august, on a package holiday we would expect to pay £2000 plus spending money.
The great thing about caravanning is you can stay by your caravan and have barbies a drink and the kids can play ball games, and usually caravanners are a friendly bunch and you soon get talking to people and make friends.
As an example last year we ventured to the south of france with our caravan through the caravan club we stopped at a lovely chataue half way down and then completed the journey the next day the countryside was amazing dont get me wrong it was two days driving from calais but a great experience, the great thing again was the cost £400 including ferries for two adults and four kids for two weeks in the south of france in august, ok i payed approx £80 in tolls and £200-£300 on diesel , cheap blonk as we stayed next to a vineyard and the weather was great right next to the sea.
My advice give it a go go once and you will be hooked.

This could be a great thread apart from the fact I haven't a tent or caravan
So.. Does anyone have any money saving tips for those static caravan sites? Everywhere I look seems to want around £800 for a week!
Thanks

When the kids were small we often went camping in France to the sites that were already set up, they were great with facilites we could all enjoy. The kids ( both 20+ now ) still say they were the best holidays.
The one bit of kit I always took with me was a pressure cooker.. fast for cooking potatoes, veg or chicken casserole which always went down well with the local wine and saved a fortune on eating out all the time.0 -

Probably not luxury - but the whole lot for £10 can't be bad!
That's two Christmas presents sorted!0 -
Hi, just booked for a weeks camping at beginning of September at Haven Holidays, Filey. This includes all passes to entertainment venues and swimming pool etc for a family of 3, and electric hook-up. All for £29.00.
Dont think price was any different for larger parties and different Haven sights. What a bargain !:j0
