If you have an airbed and you're camping in a tent, consider putting it on Freecycle and getting an inflating camping mat.....
Another vote for self inflating mattresses. I don't know the Airic brand so can't comment, but most of the people I know either have Thermarest or Exped. If you aren't conscious of weight or packed size then get the biggest/thickest/best one that you can afford. It really doesn't pay to economise on a sleeping mat IMHO.
I got my Exped foam mattress from Traveldri-Plus. The chap who runs the company is one of the most knowledgeable people I have ever come across with regards to camping/outdoor equipment.

Ive only ever been camping twice before, so dont know much about any good campsites. Im hoping to go camping over the Bank Hol W'end, either around North Wales area or somewhere in the North West.
Does anyone know any good campsites that I can go, where I can take 2 dogs (one of which doesnt really like other dogs near her, so ideally we dont want to be close to any other campers!).
We were thinking of just driving and finding a field (not necessarily a campsite!) somewhere and pitching up!! (Is this allowed) ?
Hope you can help
There is a fantastic camping site near Harlech called Shell Island. It's huge, and can only be accessed across a tidal causeway. They allow dogs and you have the choice of pitching in the fields or amongst the dunes. It tends to get busy at weekends, so if you are travelling around, try mid week. £7 a night per person. Beware of the green loos (the cleaners can't keep up at busy times) and the nudist beach a mile or so down the beach towards Barmouth. www.shellisland.co.uk No caravans or bikers allowed, and it has its own pub.0 -

Just be aware before you part with the £30+ to join!
You can also save 10% on caravan insurance as a member of Caravan Club, I saved £30 on my insurance, paid for itself ( can equate to more than the joining fee!!!!)0 -

OH and I have hired a motorhome (first time) for a week in Sept, we are planning on touring around the Lake District, Hadrians Wall, staying one or two nights on a site, anyone have any recommendations where to stay.
Would be extremely grateful for any pros or cons re motorhomes, as looking to buying one in the future.
We have never been camping before. :eek:0 -

But over 55s get a discount outside high season on most club sites. Our 2 weeks cost us £154 in July on a club site.0 -
Remember that if you do join one of the camping or caravaning clubs, for your £30+ membership, you will also get their monthly magazine, always a good read and full of interesting info.
Motorhome owners should join France Passion about £25 per year and you can stay for free at farms vineyards etc in France see www.france-passion.com also see www.campingcar-infos.com for a list of aires in europe all at low cost

Hi,
Can anyone recommend a really nice campsite for 2 families (with kids and dogs) on the East coast (brid, scarb, filey ect...)
A great kids play area is essential, and somewhere to walk the dogs.
We only need 1 night though.
Helen xlove my little man he is amazing :j0 -
Does anyone have any tips for Australia?? We're going travelling and will spend most of our time in oz in a motorhome. We didn't plan on staying in campsites as the less we spend the longer we can travel around! But...we're a bit worried about just parking up in the outback, country or in a car park etc - especially after watching the film Wolf Creek!!!!!0
