Sky MSE £6 Offer - can I get it?

HI guys,

what an offer! alas I signed up to sky on sunday for their pretty good deal of £16.40 a month and £100 m&s vouchers.

as much as i was looking forward to buying some new linens and bed sheets from m&s the new deal is even better. I've managed to get a voucher code for friday at 10am.

My broadband is currently due to be installed next thursday.

I rang up sky customer service and they said they couldn't confirm i'd receive the offer as MSE was a third party site.

they said i could cancel my current deal and chance my arm friday morning but couldn't confirm whether i'd get the deal and that it could take a month for a new installation date. and if i couldn't get a deal there would be no confirming that my previous offer i had signed up for would be available again. It all sounded like a bit of scaremongering.

i received the email with the code from sky@skymail.sky.com.

should i ring back and cancel and go for the new deal, delaying any broadband for at least another week? I've just moved into a new flat.

i'm leaning towards ringing them up. cancelling my original order and going for the offer on friday morning.

your thoughts on the matter would be much appreciated. :money:

It does seem that cancelling and fairly quickly, which you should check how long you have to cancel, might be the only way of getting the new offer. It's whether you can sign up again before everything is terminated. Sky might prevent a new sign up. You could always take out a new phone line and cancel the current one which would cost you an additional £20 I believe.

Hopefully others will respond and give some advice because I do not know exactly how Sky will respond to a cancellation. There is not much time to sign up if everything gets drawn out apart from taking a new phone line and accepting the charges for doing so.

    Hi

I live in a rural village area and have found that my broadband options are more limited. I'm currently with Plusnet who charge more for their best deals than they can offer to people in more central areas.

The other day I was lucky enough to get one of the Sky £6/year broadband codes but then it occurred to me that I might have trouble getting Sky Broadband Unlimited. I put in my details on the Sky website as though signing up for the first time and sure enough, it tells me that for my postcode, I can't have Broadband Unlimited but I can have their more expensive Sky Fibre package. Now I'm worried that I won't be able to take up the offer like others will. :(

    Can anyone advise?
£1 or less - entry to Woburn Safari Park, pair of cargo shorts, men's desert boots, £5 book token, tree peony, 2 x tights, National trust entry (50p for 2) *1 night at Hoxton Hotel* :D + numerous freebies. Thanks MSE :T
  • Hi,

Apologies for joining this thread but with a slightly different question.

I too was lucky to receive one of these codes. I've never been with Sky before.

Please can anyone say what would happen to this contract if I had to move house mid-way through it? Would I be able to transfer it to a new property or would it come to an end and would the free £100 credit be affected?

Also, how easy is it to cancel at the end of the term and how far in advance do you have to cancel?

    Many thanks.
  • Just received email from Sky as £6 Offer is now open for orders.

Despite it initially saying it was an 'online only' offer. If you are a new sky customer,as per the offer is marketed at, you have to phone them on their 08442 number to proceed with your order. What a load of BUNKUM!
  • Hi Pufferfish.

Having read your thread i'm left a little confused.

Are you with Plusnet on fibre or adsl broadband?

I find it hard to believe Plusnet charges more just because you are geographically challenged & not a townie.

As you say you are in a 'rural' location i'd have thought it unlikely that you have the luxury of a fibre network in your local area. I may be wrong. But surely if Plusnet can provide broadband...why can't Sky? Yes there may be a low speed issue to take into account if you are a distance from your exchange but then that would be no different to your current service with Plusnet.

I suspect the OP is in a Market 1 exchange and yes PlusNet will charge more for this. Only when LLU operators move into an exchange do you tend to get the lower costs.

They probably can but it would be their awful Sky Connect over BT equipment ( for which Sky will have to pay BT ) and not their own LLU Voice and BB network which is probably what this offer is based on.

I think they were saying that you had to phone as we crashed the website trying to redeem the offer. I now get a box to enter my code but it says "We are currently experiencing a high level of demand for this offer. Please try again later." in red whenever I enter my code.

I'm going to try again later.
Wins: Stairgate worth £27.99 and ViewSonic Monitor worth £129 = £156.99/2015, hoping to win a car! ;)
  • Hi all

Wonder if anyone else has this problem. I managed to use the mse blagged Sky link yesterday & got an email saying 'here is your unique offer code' but then no code displayed.
Today they have sent the email with the link which says here is a reminder of your unique offer code, but again no code showing.

I've spent the last hour on hold trying to get through & been trying live chat since 7am with no joy.

Anyone else with the same issue? The sceptic in me feels they are funding this deal by the money made from people paying to phone them for hours at a time. Not a great into to what customer service to expect!

Any advice/opinion as to whether they will uphold the email if they sent without code in error? ?

I left it an hour. Came back and refreshed and didn't see the phone us message again. Think it was just too busy at 10. All completed now.
