Cinema Free Tickets and Films Discussion Thread

Hi, I just acquired a ticket to see the Martian on Monday evening via Filmfirst, but it mentions at the bottom that I should bring my copy of heat magazine ( as the viewing is being put on by them.)
Does anyone have any experience of this and is having a copy really necessary?? I don't have one as you may have guessed lol, I just found the code online.
thanks in advance0 -
If you search this thread (just input Heat in the search box) you'll find that questions asked (and answered) many times before0

Choose the desktop version and you see the list of cinemas.
I get that people want to be helpful, but have you even tried this solution yourself? On my iPhone I don't get an option to choose a desktop version. It just shows the top header. There is nothing to select or choose, and what's more I know I'm not the only one with this problem.
It looks like they're using JQuery to force a version of the site to limit sized screens, there doesn't seem to be a way to override it. This hasn't mattered in the past, in fact the mobile version, with fewer bangs and whistles, allowed us to see cinemas that were sold out, rather than just displaying the available ones. However, now something has changed and the entire preview system is unavailable for mobile phone users at all. If anyone knows of a workaround, please post it.

Never been asked for Heat Magazine. The first time I bought a copy, just in case, but don't any more. Of course, there's no guarantee that they won't have a clamp down, but I predict you'll be fine without having to buy it.0 -
Thank you very much KxMx and Weasel_Watcher :-)0

Yes I have and I got tickets but I'll remember never to help you ever again. There was no need to be rude!0 -
Yes I have and I got tickets but I'll remember never to help you ever again. There was no need to be rude!
1) I didn't ask you if *you* had tickets.
2) You didn't help me. Your solution was not a solution, and you could not have used it to get your tickets.
3) I was not rude at all, but now you've been rude to me, don't expect me to not mention what a waste of time this exchange has been, thanks to you.
Oh and if you ever need my help, I won't hesitate to give it, and rest assured it'll almost certainly be better than what you're peddling. Not everyone here is quite so precious.0 -
I've just cancelled a pair of tickets for Martian tomorrow 24/9 at Glasgow Showcase, as I now won't be able to attend, hope someone can still claim/use them.
Code 630229.

What you need is to somehow manage to do the same yourself and having an iphone is your biggest problem. Somehow you need to download a different browser that allows you to select the desktop version of the page.
It may be that you will have to buy yourself an android phone.:rotfl:0 -
The solution you were given was the only one that works and was the one she used to get tickets.

Im afraid you don't understand. Actually, it's not s solution. Not even for Android. That's my point. The site is using the JQuery library to determine that it's a limited screen sized device, and serving up a limited functionality mobile phone-friendly site. it'll be the same with an Android mobile phone with a similar screen size. Check it out if you don't believe me.
There's no option to select the desktop version, because what's served up is determined by the available screen size, and they've omitted any option to override. Nothing to do with iPhone vs Android. The poster either didn't check and assumed there was a "go to desktop version" option, or is using a larger screened device, or using a browser with a suitable hack/plugin that spoofs its screen size. Either way, the "choose desktop version" is not a solution.0
