I get that people want to be helpful, but have you even tried this solution yourself? On my iPhone I don't get an option to choose a desktop version. It just shows the top header. There is nothing to select or choose, and what's more I know I'm not the only one with this problem.

It looks like they're using JQuery to force a version of the site to limit sized screens, there doesn't seem to be a way to override it. This hasn't mattered in the past, in fact the mobile version, with fewer bangs and whistles, allowed us to see cinemas that were sold out, rather than just displaying the available ones. However, now something has changed and the entire preview system is unavailable for mobile phone users at all. If anyone knows of a workaround, please post it.

    Thanks.

I have a Windows phone and this happens to me all the time. The solution I have found is to start scrolling down the page as soon as it starts loading. If you wait for it to load it sticks at the top of the page and won't let you scroll.

I'm afraid the advice given by Steve&Pooch is out of date.

Using a Kindle Fire tablet results in the same problems that Weasel& Lou experience.

I used to be able to see a list of unavailable/ available cinemas via either the mobile or desktop SFF.

Now there is no way to access the desktop version and I've the same unreadable page issue.

You need to be running the chrome browser. It allows you to select the desktop version of the page and then book.

    THE MARTIAN

Excellent film, good script, well acted.
    Matt Damon an exceptional performance.
Somewhat believable without being too far-fetched
Good visuals but not sure that the 3D made it a better film - found some of it a bit of a distraction.
    RECOMMENDED
    Probably a 9/10

Im afraid you don't understand. Actually, it's not s solution. Not even for Android. That's my point. The site is using the JQuery library to determine that it's a limited screen sized device, and serving up a limited functionality mobile phone-friendly site. it'll be the same with an Android mobile phone with a similar screen size. Check it out if you don't believe me.

There's no option to select the desktop version, because what's served up is determined by the available screen size, and they've omitted any option to override. Nothing to do with iPhone vs Android. The poster either didn't check and assumed there was a "go to desktop version" option, or is using a larger screened device, or using a browser with a suitable hack/plugin that spoofs its screen size. Either way, the "choose desktop version" is not a solution.

Obviously there is something that YOU don't understand.

It can and does work PERFECTLY on many devices.

On my cheapo ASDA £29.99 "special" Cyclone Explorer Android tablet, it's absolutely fine with either the "Desktop" mode selected, or indeed the "IPAD" choice.

However it does appear to have changed from a few weeks ago when it used to show ALL cinemas, even when they had all become "UNAVAILABLE", whereas at this moment it only displays those that are still AVAILABLE.

No. It's *you* who do not understand! I almost give up! I shall try one more time as best as I can....

It's working on your *tablet* because it's not a mobile phone and has a larger screen size. The screen size sniffing that the JQuery library performs recognises the device as having a larger screen than and it serves up a different tablet-friendly site. It doesn't matter that it's cheap. That is not relevant.

Tablets with a larger screen size are fine. My iPad has been fine throughout this change. It's *mobiles* that aren't. I don't know what the cut-off screen size is, because it's going to be a discrete size set by the developers that can only be determined on the outside by trial and error.

I'm glad you acknowledge that there has been a change this week. Please re-read over the posts. It's mobile device sized screens, not tablets, that they've managed to exclude.

All very well but do you have Google Chrome installed on your phone? Somehow I don't believe you have.

Nobody is denying that SFF have changed something but the fact stands that if you access the desktop version, you can see all the cinemas and you can book tickets. I did and I am not in the habit of lying as the weasel implies.
  • Phenomenal movie 10/10 for me. I would have happily watched it again straight after. Brilliant ensemble cast and surprisingly humourous for an otherwise non-funny situation.

A must for Matt Damon fans.
