Why on earth some people here are so nasty?

I have never said that its Currys fault for not selling me a better, different laptop and that there are better offers somewhere else.
What I keep complaining about is the fact that they do not inform people that returns are not possible and that they manipulate with the prices and information so the client makes different decisions than it would have made.
I said I haven't checked the prices online and o the sticker,. I went to this shop and needed assistance. There were no other shops like that around. Why on earth would I not believe the price clearly displayed on a big sign next to the laptop? why would I assume they would lie and hide something?

I don't complain that the same laptop was priced cheaper in different shop. that would be stupid complain to make. I am complaining about shop displaying sign with higher price than the real price that is even obviously set up in their system, and then lie about 'very cheap' set up cost.
My point is, that in my case, after buying the laptop last sunday, I would have still be able to return it to the store next day as unexpectedly was not at home all day on sunday and at work on Monday. Would have no time to open the box. having the knowledge of waving my return rights once computer is set up would definitely prevent me from choosing this service, as well as knowing that this service cost in fact £45..
My complain is not about Currys selling me wrong computer. but about misleading, misseling other services, not mentioning important information that would change completely my decisions and events.
as for the example about buying something to wear in M&S and return it. Don't people do it all the time? come home, trying clothes on, deciding they don't like the way they look in them and return them? Don't the average high street shop with clothes mention every time if certain item is non refundable?
I vising clothes shop on regular basis. The last time I was in shop that sells electrical goods was probably 6 years ago. Does that make me an idiot? These are not goods people buy every day and I even because of that I expected to be informed about certain things.
Thank you all the nice people for understanding and advices and the nasty comments..really didn't expect that.

You're getting hung up on the price situation - I'm assuming the total price paid was £309.99 irrespective of how it was made up.

Presumably the store manager/staff are 'incentivised' to sell the setup package - this would then both remove their liability for returns as the product is now personalised and increase the spend. The VAT situation was explained to you in an earlier post and this often happens in transactions with multiple elements (the motor trade being a prime example)

If you're happy with the total price paid then get over the fact you feel 'ripped off' and learn to negotiate/shop around in future. If you don't have the time to do this (as you didn't on this occasion) then you have to accept you pay the price for it

Currys do engage in misleading sales practises, but they are always just on the edge of the law. EuroCarParts are the same, reams of T&Cs printed in pale grey ink on white tissue paper receipts, and they operate a similar "up yours" when it comes to returns (I bought an exhaust part for my vehicle, specified it as such to the sales bloke, but this part was only suitable for joining onto their own make of midsection, not the manufacturers midsection which needed the joining bolts welded on. They refused a refund except with a restocking fee because the part wasn't faulty, and they claimed it was suitable as described but they'd be happy to sell me their midsection pipe. This time they refused to budge and I've never heard back from the head office. I ended up taking it to a friend's garage and heavily modifying it with welding gear and spare exhaust parts from the scrap bin in order to get it to mate with the original piece).

There are lots of companies who do this and it's only through word of mouth that you ever get to hear of it. It's only by boycotting these stores and hitting them in their pockets that the come to learn that good customer service makes business sense. I'll never shop at Currys/PC World or EuroCarParts again ever, and if anyone ever asks me about them or says they are going to shop there, I'll tell them to think again.

comparing knickers to a laptop is not really a good comparison is it :)[/QUOTE]

If a shop feels is worth to worn a customer about £2 worth of an item, I would expect the shop should make this even clearer when selling items for £300.

What I have learned so far is that I was extremely stupid spending so much money on item I had no clue about. the shop having all knowledge is fair and ok for not mentioning all important information and misleading with the price.
As for suggestion the lower price is online inclusive - my till receipt quoted the very same price as online. Surely if the shop had officially chosen to sell the laptop at higher price the till and system would be appropriately set up? Just as it works with any other items in any other shops?
If I saw lower price only online I would have think that it could be online inclusive but the same price is on my receipt and the full price of set up is also shown. That is why I keep mentioning this! and this is the misseling I am talking about! Not forcing me to buy this computer not the other one!

In my example/scenario I did say "wore" the clothing, not just trying it on briefly at home. To be more explicit - do you think you could buy an item of clothing, wear it to a party and then return it? You did the equivalent with the laptop - it can no longer be resold as new.

And no, in my experience shops don't notify me of every exception to their returns policy - whether it's underwear, cosmetics, jewellery or any other item which is regularly excluded from "change of mind" returns.

Don't forget "Main product £174.99, Price in store £199.99"

So you may have been able to get the laptop for much, much less than you paid.

You were not misled on the price.
You were told the price was £310. You paid £310. How it is written on the receipt does not matter. You paid what you were told it would cost.

And you've admitted you were silly to buy without any research.

And most stores will only refund unwanted items if they are unused. You used the laptop.

lets be honest here if you friends at work had not of said " aw dear Gonia thats quite a naff laptop you have bought" you would be probably surfing the net with it now. However and i quote your original post
On Monday at work I mentioned what I bought and people started telling me that this laptop is really bad, that I should return it while I can and someone offered to give me their spare laptop they don't use. I run to the shop straight after work and ask for refund.

you ran to the shop for a refund because you got a freebie from a mate at work. Once software is installed the serials are used, using the £10 service you kind of put yourself in a no return scenario.

As for currys returns service i have had to make 2 returns to currys both portable drives that stopped working after a week on both occassions currys exchanged the drives for me so cannot really fault their service.

As for the underwear comparison no shop is going to let you return a pair of clean/used/washed/dirty knickers hence why they warn you, BUT they do not have to warn you at all, you probably just got lucky and got a good sales assistant.

The time for due diligence is before you buy not after. Stop worrying about what other so called experts at work say and just enjoy what you have. It will do anything any other £300 machine can do which is pretty much everything unless your an avid high spec gamer or IT specialist, but then if you were you wouldn't be looking at £300 computers in the first place.
