Currys misselling - laptop

It might be worth asking in your local CAB office to see what they say about returning.Need to get rid of my Yankee Candle Habit, Not very money saving of me0

'There is no requirement for online prices to be the same as store prices and many retailers who sell on both platforms often have different pricing structures.'
my bill receipt, without showing any discounts, quotes laptop price as 268.99 and set up cost as 45..
But the sales man told me the laptop costs 299.99 and set up 10..
The result is the same at the end..providing I go for the service..i wonder how my bill would look like if I didn't go for the service? would I pay 299.99 still? and would my bill show 268.99?
sorry, I didn't check the stickers, I didn't check the company policy,i didn't check the salesman passport details and his shoe size... I dint study every single detail as I stupidly believed that I wouldn't be lied to.
I stupidly assume that what I am being told in the shop like this is true...
lesson learned.
thank you everyone for comments
When you went back to the shop did you query the receipt? If so what did they say? Or did you just ask for a refund?0 -
It's a shame you never went to John Lewis, or you could have got this little bargain for £200 - http://www.johnlewis.com/lenovo-g50-30-laptop-intel-celeron-4gb-ram-500gb-15-6-black/p1783148
or for £250, a much better spec : http://www.johnlewis.com/compaq-15-s108na-laptop-intel-celeron-8gb-ram-1tb-15-6-black/p1833607
Sadly - you rushed in, bought without research and didn't shop around0 -

Didn't shop around? The OP admits to not even looking at the price the laptop was being sold for in the store!sorry, I didn't check the stickers, I didn't check the company policy0 -
It is funny.. I wouldn't contemplate spending £300 on anything without knowing the price of similar products, checking prices in other stores and knowing the return conditions.
This is a case of buyers remorse, not misspelling.0 -
Currys and PC world are good for one thing only. Going into the store and physically playing around with a particular model, checking for height, build quality, weight, size of a handle or grip etc.
Do that then go online and find a better price, go to John Lewis or Coop, just don't buy from them. Terrible service, sneaky so and sos and the technical staff are, on the whole, not so hot (though they have gotten better over the last few years, they're still toeing a company line and will sell you your own grandmother if they think they can get away with it).0 -

You've used the computer so why would you think that the store would refund your money?
If you bought an item of clothing from Marks and Spencer (known for its excellent returns policy), wore it and a friend said that it didn't suit you, would you really march back into the store and expect them to refund your money? What you are asking Currys to do is, effectively, exactly the same as the above scenario.0 -
at the end of the day its each to their own, what 1 person may think is no good another may well think its fine, it depends what you want to do with the laptop that determines if its under powered or not , basic surfing the web and office stuff will be fine. Playing call of duty or batman will be near enough impossible, hence why you really need to do your homework prior to buying any pc.
As for the price well its not too bad really
microsoft office 365 £49 ish to buy
mcafee livesafe 2015 cheapest i just googles was 29.99
i personally would not of bought either of these, nor would i of bought the laptop, also if you read currys site carefully it clearly says
Web Exclusive Price
£268.99
you purchased in store hence you paid the store price for the bundle.
http://gyazo.com/f8dfa9cd61a868a3c23900e965b6cb71Every time I go to stupid Primark and buy pair of knickers for £1 I am being reminded that this is non refundable item. how come when I spend over £300 in Currys, no one bothers to inform me about it?0 -
Why on earth some people here are so nasty?
I have never said that its Currys fault for not selling me a better, different laptop and that there are better offers somewhere else.
What I keep complaining about is the fact that they do not inform people that returns are not possible and that they manipulate with the prices and information so the client makes different decisions than it would have made.
I said I haven't checked the prices online and o the sticker,. I went to this shop and needed assistance. There were no other shops like that around. Why on earth would I not believe the price clearly displayed on a big sign next to the laptop? why would I assume they would lie and hide something?
I don't complain that the same laptop was priced cheaper in different shop. that would be stupid complain to make. I am complaining about shop displaying sign with higher price than the real price that is even obviously set up in their system, and then lie about 'very cheap' set up cost.
My point is, that in my case, after buying the laptop last sunday, I would have still be able to return it to the store next day as unexpectedly was not at home all day on sunday and at work on Monday. Would have no time to open the box. having the knowledge of waving my return rights once computer is set up would definitely prevent me from choosing this service, as well as knowing that this service cost in fact £45..
My complain is not about Currys selling me wrong computer. but about misleading, misseling other services, not mentioning important information that would change completely my decisions and events.
as for the example about buying something to wear in M&S and return it. Don't people do it all the time? come home, trying clothes on, deciding they don't like the way they look in them and return them? Don't the average high street shop with clothes mention every time if certain item is non refundable?
I vising clothes shop on regular basis. The last time I was in shop that sells electrical goods was probably 6 years ago. Does that make me an idiot? These are not goods people buy every day and I even because of that I expected to be informed about certain things.
Thank you all the nice people for understanding and advices and the nasty comments..really didn't expect that.0
