Can They Cancel My Insurance?
Comments
-
The insurance company will want to have the person who will do the most driving in the car as the main driver and policy holder. There is nothing wrong with having your brother on there as a named driver to reduce the premium, but if he was down as the main driver and you drive the car the most, then it may invalidate your insurance if they find out.0

We both share the motorhome equally.0

To be fair, it wouldn't be beyond the wit of man to prove who the OP's is employed by. A letter from the employer or a payslip should do, which would end the debate0

THE OUTCOME:
I called the insurance company again and held firm on my position the I am not currently a sports coach. They acknowleged that I am not a sports coach at the moment but said that because they believe I will return to sports coach that it makes me a "high risk". However, I maintained that all my details were correct at the time the policy was enforced.
I would not budge from my position and after much toing and froing they offered to find me an identical policy for the same money with another provider. I was obviously happy with that but asked what happened about my deposit. They explained that the deposit would be refunded fully and they would put it towards the deposit on the new policy.
I was happy with the outcome so far until I was told that I would have to pay a cancellation fee on the old policy. I told them that I never requested that the old policy be cancelled and was more than happy to continue the old policy and if they desired to cancel they policy then they should pay the cancelation fee. They said they would have to talk to someone about it and call me back and when they did I was informed that they would waive the cancellation fee on this occasion. Happy days!
During the phone call they also revealed that the previous person I had spoken to was wrong when they told me the policy was never in force.
The conformation email came in and I have a new policy with the same level of cover, for the same money, with my occupation down as a sports coach... WITH THE SAME COMPANY?!?! Hahaha.
Just goes to show that you have to back yourself up, be prepared to fight your corner and never back down. Thanks to everyone for the support and advice on the matter.
(jonesMUFCforever don't be so sceptical in future)

I am covered fully comp with the same company.
Shouldn't be any issues if there is a claim as it was the insurance company themselves who insisted that's what was on the policy. My supermarket job is on the policy also.0 -
well done. Just provides that you get if you stand up for yourself - which is in a way what a sport coach does showing the athlete they can do better even if someones else says they can'tDo you want your money back, and a bit more, search for 'money claim online' - They don't like it up 'em Captain Mainwaring0

But he's not a sports coach thoughAll matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration, we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively, there is no such thing as death, life is only a dream, and we are the imagination of ourselves.0 -
Just one thing though.... Have they cancelled the first policy, or not?
If so, it'll hurt you. Whenever you take out insurance you have to answer the question "Have you ever had an insurance policy cancelled?" I know that answering yes is bad, but I don't know if it makes it harder to get cover or makes cover more expensive.
You really need them to 'undo' the cancellation or this will have a knock-on effect with future insurances that you take out.0
