Hello, Just catching up now, hope work improves, but I'm sure it will, it's always difficult in a new place, even doing the same type of work, every office does things differently, some better, some not so. Don't be too hard on yourself though, I'm sure in a few months time you will be speeding through the work and finishing at 5 when you are supposed to. When it's a new system too, it takes so much longer to do everything as you have to think through every single stage where once you get to know it, you can do it so much more quickly, so hopefully the reason you are late in finishing is for that reason, that you are just slower just now, which anyone would be, due to it all being new. What system are you on now? We are on LawWare now at work (some parts of it better than our old system, but some parts not so in my opinion only!), if you happen to be on the same system feel free to message me any queries, sometimes it helps to speak to another cashier - or are you in SOLAS - it can be handy for that! Keep thinking positive! xx
  • Hey hon

Noticed you've not been online much recently so thought I'd check in and see if you're ok.

Hope the job isn't still keeping you late as if you've signed up to work til 6 you shouldn't. I'm sure it'll die down a bit soon though once you know exactly what you're doing.

    Take care :) xx

    Hi

Well, it's been 20 months since I was last here :o

I have been keeping my head down, working hard and trying to pay off as much of the loan as possible.

Work has been really tough but I've stuck it out (purely for paying the bills, etc). I've had a few interviews with other companies but been unsuccessful in them all. Until last week. I have just secured a position in a large firm in Edinburgh. It is a step up from what I do now (still in the same line of work but managing others now). Slightly bigger salary and more benefits. I start at the end of this month. Yaaaaaaay!!

I have managed to bash the loan down to £8,350 as at today - monthly payment due off on Monday so it will be even further down next week. This has been a very hard slog. I have seen my fabulous colleague (the only reason I have stuck it this long - she knows the job as well as I do and I completely trust her, plus we have a similar sense of humour) go out and buy make up, new clothes, gadgets, etc, whilst I have been bringing in bread for toast most days. I know I'm doing the right thing and it will pay dividends in the end but it's so hard. On saying that, she has debt and rents her home (nothing wrong with that) whereas I am working to invest in mine and LMG's future.

The mortgage is down to £89,710 but I am only rounding the interest payments so that it decreases by £10 per month. I am purely focussing on getting rid of the loan at the moment.

I have been looking at the forums for the past couple of months without logging in. I just haven't been in the right place in my head to post here since 2015. I read a thread this morning about someone who is looking at paying off their mortgage next year and it just struck a chord with me. I need to get back here and start posting again. I'm nowhere near ready for paying off the mortgage but I could do with popping in here again.

I don't know how often I will get on but even if I manage an update once a week then I think that might give me a bit of focus again.

Thank you for your messages back in 2015. Primula - I qualified for SOLAS in 2010 and it has definitely helped me along the way.

So hopefully this is me back for the foreseeable :)

One day the penny will drop. Probably too late. Take satisfaction in the fact that longer term you are going to be in so much of a better place. With far less stress and worry.

Hi Lou, good to see that you are still plodding :)

Hi Mummy. Funny, yours is one of the diaries I have been dipping in and out of over the past couple of months :)

Well, nothing to report today since it is a bank holiday. Shame because I was looking forward to updating.
