SL - After some delving, managed to get some references and no's, but none of them worked on their website, then found out although I have some PB's they would probably not have been registered in my name.  So quickly opened a new account and bought some - yipee - will buy some more before end of month just to give me a range of different nos.  Quick, easy and simple.  Looks like I have a new bug.
Now off to find if caravan insurance covered "loss of use" while park was closed.  I live in hope.
Ah... that's not how the numbers work, they sell them sequentially rather than randomly - so if you bought  £100 bonds today - numbered 1 - 100 and then another £100 in a couple of weeks, you could end up with bond numbers 101 - 200.

When you come to sell, they release the oldest bonds first - you can't choose to hang onto a "lucky number" if you're selling. However, if you want to top up your holding (up to the £50k max), then you can invest via a monthly standing order from £25.

Afternoon bexster, glad to hear you have managed to devise an alternative plan for income during this pandemic, as you know the schools here are opening next month,  watch this space.
I have now bought 2 lots of PB's and found it very simple to do, found them very efficient, and will be investing a lot more before the end of the month.   Now looking at  Income Bonds on the NS&I website.

Thanks Emmia, I knew if buying say 100 that the numbers would be in sequence, but thought if I bought another 100 the following day then it would not follow on from the batch I bought the day before.
I then bought another batch today and quite happy that the numbers and figures are completely different from the first batch I bought yesterday and do not follow on in sequence from the first batch.  Maybe I was just lucky.
Tomorrow planning to buy my 3rd batch.

Better day today from yesterday when it was p*ssing it down all day long until around tea time.

Today was good.  Returned an item to M&S which was bought in their 50% off sale, but bought 7 T shirts  >:)  also all half price. Actually heard they are closing their store on the high street and moving to a retail park, just need to find out which retail park, although rumours have it - it will only be a food store.

Then popped off to the Company shop - bargain of the day was H3inz chicken noodle soup - 10p (so bought 4 tins), well that was until I saw the price of my tartar sauce - 1p - bought 1 of that - last of the big spenders  :#

Returned home to find my kind neighbour had extended my fence a bit as removing the hedge left a slight gap, they saw me attempting this and before I knew it 2 neighbours offered to help and another passing by offered 2 fence posts and brought them along to the garden.  It's lovely to have such lovely helpful neighbours.

Bought my next lot of PB's, so bug is catching, will investigate as to when I can buy up to so they are entered into Sept's draw, then wait till end of next month and maybe do the same.

It's turned out a lovely night,so off to paint the new bit of fence, which should not take me long at all.

Payday tomorrow and as it was truly "nuts" as SL would say - I didn't even get a chance to have a look at my payslip, which means (I'll be paid before I have the chance to look at it) "surprise" or "horror", should be first one as they messed up my huge overpayment in tax with my lump sum which now means instead  of claiming it back in a oner, I am now getting it in dribs and drabs until next March, grrrrr.

Given the number of people who buy premium bonds, I'd have been astonished if they were sequential with your first set - but I'm pleased you've found the process straightforward.

    Hi Emmia
I was a bit puzzled as I  thought you were telling me I would end up with the next numbers to the first lot I bought the day before.

Love how easy it is, I have only just started getting going but for now looks like a long term thing for me, next step is to cancel my SO to my isa, add a little £5 and buy £50 monthly as a SO for PB's then I may put the few hundred I hope to be getting back from the tax man every month.  Will ponder over that one, as who knows what I will get back and for how long.

Forgot to mention - 3rd lot bought tonight.

I'm sure if you contacted HMRC they could pay your rebate as a lump-sum instead of over the tax year. I rang and did the opposite when I stopped work. I asked them to take my underpayment as a lump-sum rather than reducing my occupational pension every month and they were very obliging.

Thanks SL, but I did phone them, as after I received my lump sum they reduced my tax code somewhat ?? so I phoned them, about my tax code, (which meant I would have ended up paying even more tax)  thats when they added lump sum and lump tax onto my salary !!! so the next month I expected a huge tax rebate, but no, only about a tenth of it, so rang them again (not easy to get hold of anyone during Covid) and them working from home and they said "its done now"  and couldn't be changed, grrr.  I'm sure I read you fill in a form and they refund the overpayment.
I suspect they would be happy to take but not give.  However all that said - I may try again, as small lump sums fritter away too easily.

Morning AFK good to hear about your positive thoughts on premium bonds. I plan on getting some as well but each month have been putting off as I am too tempted to just add onto my mortgage OP at the moment.  I am keeping the end of my mortgage as 00s with you in mind  o:)

Hi yogavibes, yes, bought a batch a day for 5 days which took me to the end of that month, so they will be entered into the Sept draw.  Will wait to nearer the end of this month and buy a few more, thought may as well, as banks are a bit mean atm.

I am so pleased your keeping your mortgage end as 00's o:) , I found it very motivating concentrating on the end figures rather than the whole mortgage, which could be overwhelming at times. Good Luck with it, will follow with interest.

Well been very busy with the garden, just need some sort of border and stones which have been out of stock for months, might end up having to get small bags instead, not very mse, I know.   Have came up with a plan for another part of the garden, which I had no idea to do with, however going to cost a pretty penny, so maybe not atm, but will be keeping the idea in mind.

Finally got some time off, but still disputing the hours I have left to take.  Hopefully it will all work out eventually, just need to start taking this years a/l soon.

Off shopping later on, and may take advantage of the offer on eating out today or tomorrow, was out last week and met up with a couple of old workmates, not a large group just the 4 of us, and found it was a great deal.

    Have a great day.
