    Hello AFK

I keep financials for 5 years ( unless closed account statements - then 12 months). Proof of posting I get rid of once I know seller has item ( couple of weeks?)

    Hope sorting out goes well

It depends what it is for me. If I have had an account, a policy, a financial arrangement, I keep these indefinitely (the mis-selling of financial products has brought this to the fore). Receipts I put into two categories - running costs I keep for a year, appliances, devices etc, I keep while I have the item.

I also write purchase dates and events in a calendar (electronic) and do not delete these (eg DH wrote off the car in 2016 and for my new vehicle renewal I needed that and the total cost of the claim figure, which I had).

I am very poor at routine weeding but every now and then we do a major paperwork blitz. It helps that I sort things as I store them now.
    Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)
OS Grocery Challenge in 2025 I am at £1286.68/£3000 or 42.89% of my annual spend so far
I also Reverse Meal Plan on that thread and grow much of our own premium price fruit and veg, joining in on the Grow your own thread

    Hi AFK
Glad to hear you are adapting into the part time routine :)
We have a huge L1d1 going up not far from us, will try it rather than the @sda one once it opens and see how it affects our spending...
Usually keep paperwork for 5 years here too, though tax related and pension related stuff I have kept forever.

    Have a good weekend :)

  • Well hasn't time flown, and things changed.

I have now been MF for 1 year today, and in that time I have managed to recoup my savings back up,
then it was time to investigate part time work.

I applied, and was granted the reduced hours requested, (albeit - took a good few months) and have
now been working part time since 1st Nov this year, adjusting far better to the time off now, but salary
now a small challenge at this time of year.

Partly because I cannot put away as much as I used to (something had to give).

Next big milestone will be end of March, when I receive my bus pass  :shhh:

New food discount store has opened up here for employees of certain sectors (me being one :j)
and you cannot believe the prices :money: I have been there twice now, and word is getting
round fast, plenty of bargains to be had and all good store stuff.

Next year (after March) sees me looking at home improvements, and I have quite a list, however
will take my time and plan things out now I have loads of time to myself.

I have 10 days work between now and end of March. Can't complain about that, now, can I ?

Hope everyone is organised for the coming festive season, lets hope its a good one. Doubt I will
manage on here before Xmas, so here is wishing everyone a :xmassign: :xmastree:

    What a year indeed AFK!

What a complete transformation of your life! I'm pleased everything is going well.

As for home improvements, I always use local eBay when I decide I need something. I accept you either need to be flexible in exactly what you want, or prepared to wait a while. I've done both at different times.

But it does mean I have improved my place for a good price for the most part, including flooring.

Even I have to work more than 10 days before March!
You can't possibly be old enough to get your bus pass in March.

What a great way to end a year, let's hope 2020 is as productive for you

Merry Christmas and happy new year friend. x

:beer:ElmoR - Strange but don't actually think of them as bold steps, I am still sitting here thinking - is that me? really done that - only working 2 days now? I was at a retiral recently and in the speech, she said she couldn't quite believe it, as she still classed herself as one of the young ones, I sat there nodding as I think the exact same :D Where does the time go ?

Not done too badly yourself :T just making a few little changes
makes all the difference and you are reaping the rewards for MF life, if only I could
apply the same to weight loss, I would be in slim heaven  wonder what I could
    achieve in 3 months :rotfl:Chance would be a fine thing . . . off to dream . . .

Merry Christmas :xmassign: and a :xmastree: Happy New Year to you and your family when it comes.

Here's to the next target - whatever that may be. x

Hope everyone had a lovely time at the bells.

Lovely display of Fireworks were going off here, but didn't stay up too late.

I need some goals and aims for 2020, and thinking back over the last 2 years,
I do wonder what 2020 holds, I somehow think this will be a huge life changing
    year, hopefully for the best.

So goals, I need to change my pots as not earning the same as last year.
Need to think about lump sum making its way to me end of March and
even better is I found another "pot" due to me that I can also take at any
    time  :D now.

I have had a list of "do's and wants" since last year, so this is maybe the
time to act on them and just work my way through the list, probably adding
    more as I go along.

I have been sorting house in spurts and stops, so need to get a hold on this,
and inbetween have taken up a new hobby, which I am finding very addictive
as it is just the start of it, taking up a lot of my time for now.

More will be revealed as we travel through 2020, and hope to keep posting
all the ideas and dreams as I go along.

Happy New Year to everyone and best wishes for all your hopes and dreams in 2020.

    Happy New Year AFK

Goals you say?! Surely all of your goals are now met! :p

I am really liking the 20 20s in 2020 thread on old style. 20 different things you do 20 of ( read books, different places visited etc etc). I haven't posted my list, but am currently writing one.

I have been decluttering between Christmas and New Year, and am planning a no buy Year ( with some caveats). This should give me more time ( and space) to get my act together business wise. It's been very nice working only a few hours a week for the past 18 months, but I feel like I'd like to try to step up my work, if only so I can reach financial independence faster :o:D

I look forward to posting here and reading your progress this year. I have the bits I need to do the small number of DIY projects I'd like to complete here. I think it could be a year of big change for both of us xx
