Car (focus) has failed big time. Was quoted just under £400 to get it through MOT now they have the back wheel arches off rust bucket been up to have a look and they reckon quote will double. :(

And to think OH and mechanic talked me out of getting a new well different ie not brand new car last year.

I got the clutch done last autumn as deciding I was keeping it and paid out for two new front tyres as I had a flat few weeks ago. Not happy. :o

Have the option of a 2012 Vauxhall Corsa 1.2 for £4,900 which seems a very good price. I could go looking but not sure would get a better deal. Or I could pay out and get car repaired and run it for another year. But it will be due brakes and air con needs seeing to. :(

    I hate making decisions.

How old is your car Tinyshoes ? Darren my son only wants a Ford Focus for some reason. But of course they are all miles away from where we live. Thanks.

I've been reading that its national carers week...
Something that was very close to me a few years back and an issue that many folk deal with on a day to day basis.

I heard a snippet of a radio discussion this afternoon that struck a particular chord with me....a woman who was a carer for her son until his death earlier in the year who received many letters praising her devotion and quality of care .....she went on to say she felt a little sad that no one had thought to tell her what a good job she was doing whilst she did it,but waited until after...

I know there are some wonderful carers on this thread both regular posters and no doubt the occasional passers through and lurkers....this week I would like to thank you for all you do for the person you care for and to remind you that whilst at times the job is hard and demanding....its the best thing that you do

I'm at the point where I can only look back on my time as a carer...during that time I found it frustrating,rewarding,challenging,motivating,hard,enjoyable,lonely,uplifting...the list of descriptives goes on...

....but most of all I'd give anything to have those days back.

I have to agree with you, I too would give anything to have those days back. I was carer for my mum before she had to go into a home for her own safety. She had altzimers and lived alone more due to other family members choice, as we wanted her to come here. Anyway, some days were so bloody hard but I found the nights/early hours the hardest when the police would ring me up to say mum had been found wandering at 1am+

Well managed to get a new gazebo roof, its very tight:eek::eek: lets hope we dont get those winds again:o

Hope this one will be ok bubbs, they are not cheap to replace. I bet you struggled getting that one fitted on.

Tinyshoes, it's such a shame this situation has arisen. Time to weigh up to spend now and get sorted BUT make sure you that's it and hope to get to next MOT. Prior to MOT running out go change the car. Or, call it a day now and go get something else.

I'm debating whether to keep my Mazda , very low down to get into, haven't tried with my new knee. I think I'm just going to have to bite the bullet and let her go:(
There's no place like home :)

Feeling down? Weak in body? Makes no difference to me, I think of you all when I'm sitting quietly.

Hugs and healing thoughts are always going your way.

It's 2002. Our mechanic is on his hols at the moment but his right hand man showed us that the 2002 models have some sort of material for the back wheel arches which just hold the wet which he says will have been the problem. Have never seen a car quite so bad to be honest in all my years of driving cars into the ground. The engines have usually been the first to go. :o

My Fiesta I had for about 12 years, was only around 3 years old when I got it, my Escort I had about 10 years and that was about 5 when I got it. And the Focus was about 3 years when I got that I think. Still I didn't actually pay for it I got given it by a friend. :)

They are lovely cars to drive Emerald.
