Fingers crossed. It is the principal really, I could easily afford to give up on my selling account now, but who knows what the future will bring and I don't like to close down any selling venue without a fight.

My bank statement has been rejected again and I'm still being told that they will only accept a bank statement in my business name.

I have sent them a rather snotty response saying that I trade under my legal name and have supplied bank statement in that name and there is nothing else on earth I can possibly give them. I've suggested they just close my account as I am now bored of arguing with a computer who doesn't understand that the name of my book store on Amazon is made up, as are most others I can see, but as per my registration I trade, as far as HMRC are concerned, under my normal name.

As I mentioned a few pages back, I was in the first wave of this verification - I do not put up with nonsense, and escalated this to the MD of Amazon.

The problem is this verification team is not based in the UK, and do not seem to understand UK business laws. They do not seem to have the training or mental capacity to understand UK business nuances.

if you get the MD's escalation team involved, you will be verified within 48 hours. You will not need to supply anything else - the escalation team is UK based, so you get someone with a bit more a grasp of things. If you want the e-mail address, PM me, I don't want to post it publically.

Maybe you should post it publically. If they get a slew of emails, it might make them become aware of the laws in the country they want to trade in.

So which part(s) of the law aren't they aware of? That's a genuine query.

As far as I can tell they are asking for more information than would be necessarily required by law, this is not breaking any law, no one is obliged to provide them with information, as this thread seems to have proved.

I had a problem with a confusion about company reg number but that was all it was. The 'team' handling this appear to do several countries, so the occasional confusion is understandable. It was irritating to have to resolve but I managed it in a phone call and an email. It was subsequently resolved in minutes rather than hours.

An update...

Got an email back from the main team who apparently are going to contact me later with a list of items i need to provide. They say now my address does not match my bank statement- which is odd as I have lived here for 26 years and can see no difference in my Amazon registered address and all my provided documents.

I think they are now making this up as they go along

I'm not sure it is illegal but it is certainly odd to want a bank statement in the name of my Amazon selling account which is completely made up and when they will not accept documentation showing I am registered with HMRC in my legal name which corresponds with my bank account.

I have no idea how I can get a bank account in a name that I chose at random, like 'black books' when I first registered to sell on Amazon. At least ebay have never asked me to provide bank statements for all my different user ids, it would be like me not being able to use MSE unless I provided a legal bank statement in the name of Soolin.

Anyway, after 7 various attempts at sorting this name issue out they now appear to have changed their mind and say my address is wrong, which it is not.

I agree they're over-zealous bordering on stupid but if that was a crime there'd be few people walking the streets;)

I had an email to say I would be contacted today so they can explain what I need to upload, but I've had nothing either by email or by phone.
