:rolleyes:you swore at your manager, thats gross misconduct, i would have sacked you too, stop complaining and get another job, or is this in the "benefit scrounger wannabee" section?, i have 3 collapsed discs, one slipped disc, osteoarthritis, i spent the last 3 years hating the benefits system and not being able to do a full time job, ive now designed and started my own business just to get off incap benefit, and your problem is?
get a life!!
Totally agree, you gob off then face the result, it's not the "governments fault" or problem its yours! ? Why should society pay for you when you can't be arsed to be civil, sounds obvious. put up or shut up and keep your job and look for other "opportunuties" come on pc brigade, prepare your why me rant, sorry to judge ? but yes I would judge and convict on attitude alone.0 -
Of course not every situation in life is the same to counter what you said, I struggled to find work between jobs a good few years back and I wasnt dimissed from last job for gross misconduct and I did have 2 references, it still took me 3 months to find work. The job I eventually did get was from an interview the job centre gave me, I was really struggling to get interviews.
So whos wrong me or you? neither, it can be possible to regain employment swiftly or it can take a long time, different areas have different work prospects and there is an element of luck involved. I would think with no references and that reason for losing last job its very hard to find work.
I agree, finding another job quickly is not a given. Perhaps the OP should have thought about that before abusing her manager and being sacked!
I would be interested to know if the OP had taken any steps to find alternative employment/take action against the manager in question.0 -
I also think its even harder if you not on jsa if you on the benefits they want you off them so they will offer you interviews after you have been on jsa long enough, this isnt going to apply for someone not qualifiying for jsa.0

OK so the guy didn't handle the situation properly, we all make mistakes, but I don't think it is acceptable that he has to go without any kind of benefit whatsoever.
If this carries on he could become stressed and depressed, deserving an entitlement to IB.
I sacked a girl for being absolutely useless. I didn't tell the jobcentre this when they wrote to me, I didn't want to screw up her chance of benefit, I just wanted her out of my shop!
I have since written her a very good reference to ensure she gets employment. I am not spiteful.
I think the OP was right not to want to LIE about the Bread. He must have been severely stressed to swear at the Manager - some Manager by the way - I would appeal if I genuinly thought that the circumstances running up to the incident were out of order. Bullying is simply not acceptable.
Have you tried contacting ACAS? Do a search, they are usually very good.
You will find a job, what will be will be and if I were you I would be inclined to admit to any prospective the circumstances and explain WHY you were dismissed for supposed Gross Misconduct. Honesty has always worked for me in life.
Good Luck0 -

But the JSA sanctions are put in place for a reason - to stop people walking out of perfectly acceptable jobs willy nilly and instantly claiming benefits.0 -

But you are now ensuring some other poor sap employs a useless person.0 -

No, we had a personality clash and she was an otherwise nice girl.
I wish her well, and she can't go far wrong hanging clothes on a rail.0 -
Where I work (I wont say though), I come into contact every day with lots of people on JSA, incapacity etc. Some of them have only done a few days work in their whole lives but still seem to have no problem getting benefits in the first place. Some have stated to me that they have no intention of ever getting a job (late teens/early twenties). Getting benefits is their career!!
Even worse, they have no problems either getting hold of grants to buy clothing etc. It drives me scatty, I work 50 hours a week and have a second job... I am a single mum but would be too proud to scrounge off the state, I feel guilty about getting tax credit (albeit only about £20 per week).
Some people just know how to play the system :mad:Second and final LBM 01/01/11 Nearly got there but fell of wagon. HAVE to do it this time :mad:0 -
I think you might be able to put a claim in for income support. flumpty.0

Oh dear!!! thanks heavens you are not Ops manager then!!!! ( or mine)~!~
My advice would be to counter claim against the ma nager. Go and see a solicitor and ge tthem to act for you. A letter needs to be sent to the head office stating clearly the things that you were asked to do which were wrong (and would make good healines in the press), and stating that unless they supply some sort of confirmation that you did not diliberately lose your job but were under huge provocation etc etc from a very unprofessional manager. You could also go to jobcentre where claim was made and explain all of this to them. There were mitigating circumstances here and the jobcentre should not just take the employers word for it. tell head office you are making an offical complaint and unless they play ball you will go public. Sounds like a case for bullying and harrasment to me. Dont stand for it, esp as it leaves you up the creak without a paddle. get legal advice quickley and get that bully investigated.0
