I thought that but no script isn't blocking anything and there was only question 1 of 1 for identity
the last 4 digits of the account that your child benefit, tax credits or pension is paid int

Putting the bank account number last 4 digits generated this
The last 4 digits you have provided don’t match our records

Given that tax credits don't apply I was expecting to see the option the last 4 digits of an account that pays you interest but it wasn't there!

    Oh well...phone call it is

My husband set up his personal tax account and it asked for the last 4 digits of the account tax credits were paid into. We haven't had them for about 4 years but it still accepted the last 4 digits of my account which the tax credits/child benefit was paid into at the time. Did you ever get tax credits? It might be an old account number they have on record.
  • Completed online application last Wednesday, got new tax code on Saturday in the post, got almost full years allowance on this months wage slip :) took me less than 10 minutes to apply & had to put in last 4 digits of the bank account I did use when I received tax credits in the past, definitely worth the 10 minutes folks - good luck :)

    Good news..now why didn't I try this

It accepted the last 4 numbers of the bank account from which we switched to Santander last year.

What irks then is if they know this old bank account and using the switcher service back in August last year then how come the records are wrong? The Mrs gets a tiny DLA and that switched over and presumes is not just being forwarded...the old account didn't get interest

It might be worth checking that.

Apart from ringing up Santander is there a way to confirm as I presume the credits would just bounce through?
  • Can someone tell me please if the earnings threshold is your taxable pay as opposed to gross pay?

This year I will have earnt less than the £10,600 as taxable pay. My February payslip is showing gross pay for year to date as £9900 and taxable pay as £8600. I assuming the difference is my pension deductions by salary sacrifice.

I have transferred the MA to my husband because I expected to earn less than the threshold this year. I just want to know if it's based on my taxable pay?

    Thanks in advance...

Payments will transfer for 36 months.

Your old bank should have advised DLA of the change of account but you could check by contacting them

    Taxable pay.
  • Thank you MSE!
As probably the same as the 90% of the married population who havn't claimed this, I hadn't even heard of it until the MSE article!
Tried doing it online, but as I don't have a P60, only a P45 from when I left work, no suprises it didn't work.
I phoned them today and apart from the 18 minutes in the queue, the whole process took about 2 minutes!
They confirmed they will send out a revised tax code for this year and adjust next years.
    Super!
    Cheers!
