I opened up an M&S acount because of the monthly saver option. But how long does it take for the monthly saver account to appear? I applied for both in May and the bank account is now up and running since late May. But still no monthly saver. On phoning a while back I was told it would open on the 1st July. No sign yet. Perhaps I being impatient but surely it can't so long to open an online saving account?

It was available online more or less immediately, in my case.

Do you need to keep the M&S current account for 12months to take full advantage of the regular saver?

Yes. Payments must come from your M&S Current Account.

...they can't seem to alter statement dates:undecided

Paper statement dates are linked to the monthly charging dates which were set in stone when you first opened the account. This also applies to savings accounts (in which case it is interest rather than charges).

M&S Bank will be launching an app before the end of the year. They're listed as "Coming Soon" on the Apple Pay UK web page, and there are reports that that means before the end of 2015. In order for a bank to enable Apple Pay, they need to have a mobile app available for iOS devices. Therefore it seems a safe bet that an app is coming soon-ish.

It still seems incredible that a sort-of-mainstream bank in 2015 doesn't have an app. Heck, even the stone-age Co-op Bank has an app (even if it's not receiving much love these days).

Are you sure about that? I thought all you need for Apple Pay is the Apple Pay app, in which you register the card(s) of the participating bank(s).

There's already an M&S mobile banking app. I started a thread about it a while back. But as colsten says, it's not needed for Apple Pay.

The fact you have to use the keypad thingy to login every time is awful...but then again the £100 gift card in my wallet is quite nice.

I will be chilling out in the Food Hall of M&S using my free £100 gift card
You don't need a £100 gift card to be able to chill out in the M&S Food Hall - just sit in the fridge.

Especially nice in this weather, I can assure you.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to pull a stray frozen pea from my keks...
