Are Computers Using Vista Becoming Obsolete

lol, well extended support is critical security fixes only; if you don't like the current version then whatever & I expect you can self-support but it sounds like the OP might be better off with a current OS inside mainstream support if they need to go buy one anyway.Think I've covered the salient points above

It has some really stupid stuff, which get on the nerves of most advanced Windows users. Win8x was designed primarily for mobile devices, it's very much full screen one app at a time, multitasking is extremely awkward. Fortunately you can get rid of the "tiles", but other things can't be fixed.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

Re Clickworker - Are you using the latest version of Firefox
This is what they say on their site http://www.clickworker.com/en/faq/
The Task Management page does not display correctly. Do I need to use a specific web browser?
Different web browsers may display web pages differently, and sometimes even incorrectly. clickworker is continuously working on increasing the cross-browser compatibility of our entire site. At the time of this writing, we recommend the use of the current versions of Microsoft Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, or Apple Safari for use with clickworker. Having said that please be aware that even different release versions of the same web browser may display a web page differently.
So as they recommend Firefox you should contact them if you are having problems.0 -
Cordie, I use a laptop running vista. Like you, I too have IE pre-installed. Over the years I have tried several browsers, chrome, firefox, pale moon, opera plis others I have forgotten about. Currently I am using Maxthon.
I am of the opinion that:-
There is no limit to how many browsers you can have on your machine.
I have noticed that if one of them "plays up", such as slow loading pages, or things that don't function, I remove the browser via add/remove and use another one for a few weeks, then when I re-install it, it works ok again.
So why do I try various browsers?. well if I read another persons glowing opinion of one, then I try it. Firefox and Chrome are fast, but in my opinion, this Maxthon is better.
Yes the page layouts can be odd, when first viewed, but if you have time to experiment, there is no reason why you can't get them more or less the same or to your liking.
Some, such as Maxthon, have ABP pre-installed and because I don't like ads/pop-up's, this suites me fine.
I'm telling you this, because if vista was a failing system, no doubt it would prevent me from doing all that I do.This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
That specification according to the service tag will run W7 fine, I have same model and near identical specs and it's fine.
Personally I'd avoid Win8 but that's just me (and a few million other users opinion)
However, for money saving, I'd stick with what you've got and see if Chrome/Firefox browsers sort out the IE9 issue. It is possible to speed up Vista by turning off disk churning activities and it can be made to be close to W7 with updates and a little housekeeping.
