Garage charge for rear brakes?

stop joking around im asking a serious question
Seriously?
Is it 'normal' for a business to charge a mark-up on the products they supply?
Duh. Yes it is. It's a little thing called 'making a profit'.
I thought you were supposed to be a high-powered Big-4 management consultant? Or was that another fabrication (I'd already assumed as much)?0 -
Really? Even though genuine parts are just made by the same companies such as Brembo, Lockheed and Boshe? You're not buying a superior part of its genuine, just a manufacturer branded version of an ordinarily more affordable part.
I tend to draw the line at Chinese eBay stuff as they tend to lack overall quality (putting it mildly!) but have never bought car parts from China. People worry about brakes, in my opinion unnecessarily. As long as it fits, it'll work, and if it fails prematurely, it'll have a warranty.
if i buy oem from a main dealers then i kno the brake parts are genuine and up to the job
a lot of the stuff on e bay are fakes and you have no idea what you are buying
I agree that brembo, AP/lockheed, and bosch parts are as good as oem but i would have to buy them from a reputable and known source and i would not buy them online ever0 -
Also the fact if the garage supplies the part and its faulty they have to put it right.0

I am, but I'm still a graduate and only found a foundation level CIMA0 -
You seem to think that being a Management/Business Consultant is on a level with a basic, entry-level accountancy course.
You are a bare-faced liar and the only good thing now is that no matter the garbage you post, most regular posters recognise you are a kid repeating what you can find from google.
It's now way past your bed-time. Go away.0 -
You could have got better items for less money if you bought them from Europarts or similar, but you bought the parts from the garage with their markup added.
You could have bought the parts and supplied them to the garage who could have then added on ab extra 30% to their standard fitting charge to make up for it.
But at least you wont have crappy quality parts that you have now.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

I do understand the simple concept of margin. One doesn't have to be a graduate at the big 4 to understand this. What I would prefer however is that the garage just be honest and over charge rather than using the VAT as an excuse to do so, but it wouldn't make a difference.0
