I've never been an advocate of people not claiming what they are entitled to ever .... But you with your dreadful numerous posts say this all the time and this can really affect the vulnerable and mentally ill - who look to this reputable site for advice and help and come across your posts - misleading, wrong and terrible

    errr please explain?

All i said is that it seems that being entitled is the green light to claim anything and everything.
Do I think it wrong - yes, why claim if you don't have a need for the money, why claim if you don't have extra costs because of a disability, why claim if you already have enough cash and taking more serves no useful purpose.
So, based on the majority, I am entitled - so I intend to claim, simply because I can and not because I need the extra money for my disabilities.
No one can complain about that can they as they seem to find reasons to complain about everything else I post.

You should be able to afford a driving licence out of £700 a week then?
Don't forget to inform DVLA of any illnesses, too.

I get it free if I just apply to change the address - silly not to otherwise it is £20!

How does attendance allowance of £81 push your income to £200 a week .

As everyone knows, there are premiums invovled when considering a means tested benefit - Pension Credit in this case.

With those premiums including double CA, but not in payment, would actually give rise to a GPC award of over £150 a week PLUS the original AA award. This makes an increase of over £200 a week even on the lowest AA award.
  • Hi,

While I appreciate that you're discussing a topic you're all quite passionate about, please remember the section of the rules that talks about not derailing threads.

I'm still open to suggestions about what to rename this board - I've spoken to my team about it and we suggested 'Disability MoneySaving' which includes not only the benefits available to those with disabilities, but all other aspects of being disabled, and sharing your tips on that.

Let's get this thread back on track -send me your suggestions! :)

I think what we need, with the permission of MSE, is to take a vote on the suggestions of the members of the forum as to what this board should be called. It is after all us who use this part of the forum and therefore despite the fact it is owned and operated by a private company we should be the ones to agree the correct name that reflects what we feel the board epresents.

I don‘t know how this would be done, maybe set a deadline for people to make suggestions on this thread and then set up a new thead with a time limited poll to vote for the best name.

    Just a thought.

What about calling it something simple like Disability, Help and Support.

I quite like both of these suggestions, although it isn't altogether a money saving board.

Nor do I like the term or label, disability, but sadly I can't think of a better descriptor.

I prefer Disability, help and support.

    or how about:-

Disability enquiries, (or questions,) help and support?

No, keep it simple. Disability, help and support.

That epitomizes what this board should be for.
Fred - Where's your get up and go?

Barney - It just got up and went.

What makes you think you are entitled to claim Attendance Allowance when you were turned down for PIP ? Clearly the PIP assessors thought you were not entitled to that so why is Attendance Allowance any different ?
Its amazing how these banks can't even do simple calculations correctly..............

I've always hated it. It suggests the disabled get the dosh ! It annoys me every time I click on it. It's not like disabled peeps have a choice either as to whether they are disabled :(

    Rant over

Just read through this discussion, and back to original poster agree the title needs changing as really bad wording!

For those of you with practical experience of the forum how do people make a request for a title change? So that something positive can be done!

    Best wishes
    Nan
