Don't use the card but just let it expire.

You will get charged €5 for inactivity but since you only have €1 on it then that is all they can take.

You don't have to cancel it, just cut it up and pretend that you never had it in the first place - you only 'lose' €1

Now go looking for a travelcard that doesn't try to screw you over

  • Looking at the Revolut card, in their Terms and conditions, it says that you are not covered for any fraudulent use of your card?
So if it gets cloned or stolen, then you lose all your money?
I think it sounds like you keep it blocked and then only use it for cash machines!

I tried this. It didn't work for me. The Revolut doesn't like the prepaid Mastercard.
Thanks for that Neato, and the neato PayPal alternative. Can anyone else confirm that Revolut rejects a top up from Ukash?

I have topped up Revolut from other prepaid Mastercards, so it's probably because Ukash takes an interchange fee equivalent to that of a credit card. Well, it may work for clearing the next prepaid card that changes its T&Cs adversely for its customers - unless that will be Revolut itself...

Please can someone explain how to put money onto PayPal from the Ukash card?
I've just tried, you need to add the card like a credit card then it needs to verify, but mine said it failed.
I'm not bothered about the one euro, its the fees I'm bothered about!!!
I can't face wasting money on fees!!!!
I won't ever take out one of these cards again.
Stick to cold hard cash or a normal credit card!!! I only go away once a year!!!

I have just paid mine into my paypal account. I had $4.50, ended up with $4.05 transferred to account.

First login to paypal and go to the send and request tab.

    Select request money

Put in an email address which you use which in not your paypal account (I used my gmail account)

Then enter the amount of the balance on the card and select the currency (mine was in $ so I put in 4.50 and changed the currency to $)

    Then hit Request Money

You will receive an email requesting payment in the second email account

Fill in the details, but you have to change the conversion rate! I tried it first time and there must be a difference in the paypal rate and ukash rate as it would not allow payment.

Below the conversion rate which will be in £, select use the currency requested. It will then take the amount in the same currency.

Hit send and then check you balances.

    Hope this works for you

Many thanks for this info. I have now withdrawn all my Euros from the uKash card into my PayPal account leaving zero balance on my card. At least the greedy b...ers won't get a cent more from me!
Please beware that PayPal takes a conversion fee of around 3.5% for converting from Euros to Pounds. This doesn't bother me as I originally bought the Euros when the Pound was high.

Ukash are waiving their cancellation fee if you cancel before the new charges come in on 10th April. This is the email I received from them today:
    Dear Customer,

Further to the earlier communication with regards to the change of name and fees on the Ukash Prepaid MasterCard® and the Ukash Prepaid Travel Card, please note that those changes only come into effect on 10th April 2016.

We are looking to improve the overall product offering and enhance service levels but we do understand that some customers may wish to close their card due to the change in fees.

With that in mind, we would like to confirm that we will be waiving the closure fee on the cards as long as the card is closed prior to 10th April, 2016.

If you have any questions or queries please don’t hesitate to email us at ukash@prepaidfinancialservices.com

    Best regards,
    Neltac Limited

  • Anyone know of any Euro denominated cash machines in London where I could withdraw the Euro balance on my Ukash card and get it out as cash (in Euros) - that would be the most helpful for forthcoming holidays without having to be penalised by Ukash's soon to introduced fees?
You gotta be in it to win it, and who knows you might even get a Brucie!
