"Of the other two parking companies featured in watchdog, one was ParkingEye and the other was managing Lusty Glaze in Cornwall, so was presumably one of the Cornish companies, such as Armtrac,"

It was certainly Armtrac in May 2014, you can see their signs on Google Streetview.

  • I think you are confusing the BPA with the IPC

Well, I lifted the item directly from the Watchdog website.

Which has the wrong title on it. The letter is certainly from the BPA not the IPC (as is clear from the content).

Looks like Watchdog are confused - put IPC instead of BPA in the title.

ETA : Bazster beat me to it.

It is evident that Hurley stated that 70% of those PCN that are cancelled are because of mitigation. Not so clever use of stats as the uninitiated will only hear 70%. The actual number cancelled would be interesting to hear, as the IAS do not accept mitigation.
Is it me or did he look like a slimey toad?
  • I thought I posted earlier, but obviously not. I was in a hurry, so must have forgotten to hit send. The parking company I believe is PCM-UK. The reason for this is that their signs can be seen briefly, the red stamp which goes on the envelope can be seen, one of their car parks is written up on the green board, the practice of having high signs with writing too small to read is mentioned, which is a common PCM-UK trick and of course PCM-UK are featured in the program with the disabled bay case.

The other two companies are ParkingEye (you can recognise their letters) and Armtrac (they patrol Lusty Glaze.

One of the things that struck me was how people just roll over and pay up, another thing is the IPC bloke, apart form looking smarmy and a little smug did look a little uncomfortable.
its a shame they didnt spend longer interviewing him

And the BBC's responce to my complaint about not naming the PPCs ( seems pretty pathetic in my mind and has a smell of CAPITA about it ) :

"I discussed this directly with the programme team, who explained that whenever we investigate a company, we have to be able to justify why we are specifically looking at them instead of the others in their field. For example, if we were to examine one supermarket, we have to compare the number of complaints with the other leading supermarkets to make sure it is fair to single them out for criticism.
With the car parking firms, because so many of them operate on a local level, we don’t get the same volume of complaints as we do with major, nationwide brands. That means it becomes more difficult to justify singling out individual companies as being noticeably worse than the rest. In simple terms, that means we would have to discard their stories and not broadcast them, as it wouldn’t be possible to justify the public naming and shaming of them above others.
However, we can tell their story if we don’t name them, using the details to pass comment generically instead. This gives us breadth and allows us to investigate the industry as a whole, which was always the intention of last night’s report."
