  • I still need to know Foregn Correspondent
  • hey sorry matey, I saw your PM but have been busy... my apologies!!
Ok, the connexions website is at:
    http://www.connexions-direct.com/
You should be contacted by them when you are 13 and allocated a 'personal advisor' (PA). however, you could always email them now with your query, (but they might say 'we will get back to you when you are 13!') You could talk to them about being involved in any panels, surveys etc, and let them know youare particularly interested in any where you might get a voucher as a reward for participating. Connexions do lots of things where they need young people to be involved...like panels for interviewing new staff to make sure they get people kids will like!!
There is no guaruntee they will offer any form of payment for this, it might depend on what it is and the local connexions policies etc. but it can be an interesting experience anyway and good for your CV for when you can get 'proper' paid work.
They should also be able to advise you on any other ways to make money-part time jobs etc.
In the meantime (especially with it being the summer hols) how about car washing, lawn mowing etc? Some kids used to occassionally mow my lawn, I havent seen them recently, but would glady give them a tenner to mow and tidy up as I am too busy! (but be wary of strange people asking you into their houses etc, and make sure your mum, dad or whoever is looking after you, always knows where you are)
good luck, let us know how you get on!

  • YouGov Surveys

How does getting paid for sitting on your computer filling in surveys sound?

You could do this alongside another part time job if needs be as it requires only a few minutes of your time a few times a week.

Basically YouGov pay people to fill in surveys because let's face it, who's going to do it for free?!!

You earn 50p-£1 for each survey and once you reach £50 they send you a cheque. And if you refer friends as well you get paid for each survey they do too, which helps you get to £50 quicker!

They are genuine, with the help of referring some friends I managed to get my first £50 cheque in about 4-6 weeks!

And it's taken me over two years to get to my first (and last!) £50 with YouGov, and I've done my best to answer every survey they've ever sent me! There are more lucrative survey sites, there's a list of them somewhere on the site but I'm too tired to go looking for it now, sorry. Search for juicybrains, that might bring it up! Or Lightspeed. Although they're both vouchers rather than real money, IYSWIM.

I've signed up to some and have redeemed over £20 in Argos and amazon vouchers
  • The survey sites that pay in vouchers are certainly advantageous if you intend to spend your well-earned money in the respective stores, definitely.

However there are some places where we'd like to spend our money that do not deal in vouchers, like say... the pub? :D

My son is 14 now, but he saved up and bought his own Wii when they came out. He got a paper job when he was 13. I think it's great that you want to work for your own stuff, but you said you have a birthday coming up soon. Any chance of any contributions to your Wii fund then? :)
  • Just to update on my YouGov situation, today I received another cheque and cashed them both in today. :)
