    Hi Katy,

No, I was wondering about the age thing myself, especially as some countries seem to allow people to join up to the age of 44.

    I think I joined when I was 18 or 19.

    *goes away to google*

Here we go (from Anthony Nolan website FAQ):

Why do you have to be aged between 16 and 30 to join the register? Statistics show that young people are more likely to be chosen as donors in lifesaving transplants. Of course, people over 30 can make excellent donors too, and that’s why we ask people to stay on our register until they’re 60. But younger donors have fewer complications, such as heart disease and diabetes, that would prevent them donating. When every day counts for someone in desperate need of a lifesaving transplant, finding out a donor can’t proceed can waste precious time. In addition, it costs £100 to add each donor to our register. As a charity with limited resources, we need to focus on recruiting the people most likely to be chosen as donors. - See more at: http://www.anthonynolan.org/8-ways-you-could-save-life/donate-your-stem-cells/frequently-asked-questions#sthash.epV5tYFK.dpuf

  • Ah that makes sense I suppose. Just seems a shame they are missing out on so many potential donors

By flooding the web with images of the peaceful ISIS-chan and her smiley melon, the collective of Japanese activists who created her are playing with the algorithms in Google that determine search rankings.
The more popular an image the higher up it shows. Called google-bombing, if enough people draw and share their own ISIS-chan they will push violent pictures of the global terror group off the internet.

pyxis, can you oblige with some piccies of ISIS-chan please.

Catching up from over the weekend! :o

Calley, maybe the routine of work/volunteering is what you do need. I'm rubbish as organising myself and lose hours to doing nothing but the routine of work helps me routine the rest of my day too so when I get home I do dinner, feed DS, give him a bath, put him to bed then clean the kitchen, tidy up the living room etc, wipe the bathroom down and then I have some time to myself to either work on my crafty business (or do stinking out of hours work for my job which is annoying but unavoidable sometimes) or just enjoy doing nothing!

As for getting the annoying chores like the washing up done, set a timer or turn on some music so that for 10 minutes, or 3 songs, or whatever time you wish to set, you do the chores then you can sit down and have a cuppa and a biscuit! I try to do things like the washing up straight away now otherwise the dishes just sit there making me feel awful (we have an open kitchen/living room so there's no escaping a messy kitchen!) and once it's done it's out of the way. :)

And for happy songs, I love Taylor Swift 'Shake it off'! I dance to it and shake off my worries. I even do it at work when I'm getting stressed. :)

Katy, a trick to remember that worked for me after birth was witch hazel gel (applied to the maternity pad rather than directly) and some drops of lavender oil- very soothing! Also baths with lavender oil, tea tree oil and milk. I had 2 baths a day for about 2 weeks, was lovely! :) Spicy food did nothing to shift DS, I had mega hot food every day for 2 weeks and it didn't make a difference! Oddly he's got a real taste for curry now though, I wonder if that's why?!

Code, sorry you didn't have the best time at the wedding. I'm sure you looked lovely in your beautiful dress though. :)

I was at a BBQ at DH's friend's yesterday and I felt like blending into the hedge and disappearing. I don't know what's wrong with me; every time we meet up with this group of friends I just go blank and don't have anything interesting to say, I just keep worrying that they all must think I'm just so boring but I do nothing about it! :o I got stung by a wasp and couldn't even muster an exciting reaction, just said 'Ow! That's annoying' and carried on being quiet and boring whilst everyone looked on in horror at my understated reaction! :o
Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!

We are off on holiday tomorrow so are dropping the dog off at lunchtime today. Can't stop crying.

Hugs (((code))) Totally understandable, I would more than likely be the same.

We've been lucky in that we've never had to put the cat (or the one before that) into a cattery because the MIL comes round (just lives a few minutes away) and when we mentioned putting him in one when she was potentionally coming with us, she went off on one!

How long you going for? Some kennels have webcams set up so you can check in on them from anywhere around the world....I'd probably be doing that just to see what he was getting up to, in other words, what mischief he was getting up to! :rotfl: I mean my cat, not your dog!
  • They were probably looking on in admiration Birdie! Thinking "wow, how can she be so calm?"

D is terrified of wasps, never been stung by one, just terrified of maybe having an anaphylactic shock or something. He was driving my car once, I was a passenger, a wasp came in and he let go of the steering wheel and flapped his arms around like a right *insert inappropriate word*! I had to grab the wheel before we went into something....

    Oh Code! ((((((Code))))))
Don't be sad! I used to tell mine she was going to holiday camp, and what a lovely time she'd have. She used to trot off without even a backward glance, which made me feel bad, but was good for her!

Right Pyxis you have a lot to answer for.

Got up at 9.30 and got the masking tape out. And did some areas that needing glossing. Did some glossing, made the bed and cut the grass out the front and back.

Showered and now sat on the sofa with wet hair but dressed. And I do mean in a dress!!!!!!

    Yours

  • Morni-afternoon all. *hugs for Code*

Yes my conditions are hugely variable, Elsien. And it's rare they are all bad or all good at the same time, so it's a different balance to find each day. I'm getting better at it though.

It might just be hormones, but I feel huge and bloated and fat. Not sure how to lose weight with ME, fatigue and fibromyalgia. Healthier snacks is prob the easiest, but it's not gonna be easy with my weird dietary requirements. I will find a way!
