Flybaby - you could save Baby Biggles to your computer then upload it as your avatar. Should be easy.
As for flying, I just see planes as big busses and it's a means to an end. I'm very 'meh' about them, don't hate flying, just find it tedious and wish Concorde was still around (and I had the money!) so I could get to places faster! We've got a 9 hour flight coming up with DS (who'll be 20m) and I'm absolutely dreading it. Even worse, because he's under 2 he's classed as 'babe in arms' so will be sat on my or DH's lap the whole way unless we pay £400+ for another seat! Going to be... interesting!Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!Goal Weight 140lb Starting Weight: 160lb Current Weight 145lb0 -
I know it has been a while. Good news my Uni course for this year with the OU is nearly done and shock horror I am actually passing!!!
Bad news I have a mole that has gotten bigger and itchy. The doctors are now worried about skin cancer so I have to have it removed and wait for the test results. Getting nervous.“I'm selfish, impatient and a little insecure. I make mistakes, I am out of control and at times hard to handle. But if you can't handle me at my worst, then you sure as hell don't deserve me at my best.”

Oooh Pyxis, I am terrified of flying!!
I loved the idea of it, but when I actually got to go on a plane on holiday I was petrified!!
Couldn't imagine anything worse than jumping out of one. How do
But yes, there was a fear element, obviously, but knowing you had a parachute on your back helped! And a reserve one in front!
The perspective is the plane, so it doesn't feel like being high up. I'm much more scared up a ladder, in fact I won't go up one at all! (Unless it's a loft ladder which is fixed, or a stepladder, which has four legs and something to hold on to!)
Then of course, once the parachute opened, the ride down was terrific!Katy - I am nominating you as the wing walker then **giggle**

The first time I went flying was this year and I was rather terrified. My friend was wonderful. He talked me through everything. We flew with Flybe and you get allocated seats. He spoke to the air stewards and asked if we could sit together there and back and they said it was fine.
I felt confident enough to travel alone to Ireland.
Thankfully for me, both trips were only an hour.
He was telling me that one of his sons hates flying and his girlfriend lives in Spain. He goes over by coach, which takes some 24 hours.:eek:Sealed pot challenge #232. Gold stars from Sue-UU - :staradmin :staradmin £75.29 banked

Hello again!
Great news about your course! :T
Sorry about the mole. I expect they'll take it off. Better off than on in the circumstances, but a pain for you, on top of everything else.(I just lurve spiders!)

Katie,
I know it feels very personal and unkind (the comments from the consultant) but I am delighted with her. It is good to me to know that they are alert to worsening/postnatal depression.
Now, I don't want to make your anxiety worse, but I would encourage you to keep seeing the health visitor regularly after baby is here. If you start missing or cancelling appointments then in theory Children's Services should start being notified. If you are getting help and support then there shouldn't be any problems. Seriously though don't worry about this. I found my perspective was totally screwed after the baby and DH with his lack of sleep and worry about me was not much better. We did get help though and that made a huge difference. If I hadn't got help, things would have become a lot worse very quickly - maybe even requiring sectioning (which I have never needed before).
But, unlike you, I wasn't so aware there were potential issues. Didn't have this thread then, for starters.Having more knowledge about mh conditions has helped me more than anything to recognise as things go wrong and to pull myself back. Good afternoon all! I'm awake! (sort of).
I love flying! The first time I ever flew I was taken in a small aircraft owned by one of WaSp's friends. I was given headphones so that I could hear them speak and was silent for the whole thing because I thought the control tower could hear me!
My first commercial flight was to Florida, a 10 hour journey. The luggage doors wouldn't close so we all had to get off and wait for another one for 5 hours. When we finally got on that one we hit a lightening storm. There was so much turbulence and because I was sitting by the wing I could see it turn orange when the lightening hit it. I absolutely loved it! The fact we got transferred onto a far bigger plane which meant I had a row of seats to myself, plus the fact they gave us a free bar to apologise also helped! They were bringing a drinks trolley round every 45 minutes and I don't think I ever refused. I had never been outside of Britain before and the fact we arrived at night meant all of the lights of the american grid system glowed. It looked just as did on overhead shots on american tv shows and I was so amazed that I cried. I arrived in the middle of the night, rather drunk and babbling with excitement!
When I was a child I always wanted to be a journalist who went into war torn countries to show the rest of the world what was really happening. No writing about beauty products or celebrities for me, I wanted to be out there risking my life so that the truth could be known. The journalist Kate Adie was my hero when I was 10. I was still tempted to go for that career when I was 16.
Hugs to all that need them, hang in there Katy. I shall be back with very strong coffee.Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France

I did a trial gliding lesson once and was very bad at it because I couldn't work out left and right quick enough. I'd only be any use in your flying team if I got L and R tattooed on the back of my hands.
disabled_NCIS_fan - well done for getting to the doctor promptly with your mole to get it checked out, not enough people do. When I had a patch on my nose I was worried about (relative had skin cancer in the same spot) it took me over a year to get it looked at. Which would have been a bit late if if had turned out to be something serious. Sending positive thoughts your way that it turns out to be not a problem for you.All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
