Escapee is being a little monster this evening. I'm sure there is tunneling, or at least some use of power tools going on!
It does feel like there isn't long left to wait, but everyone keeps telling me that first babies are usually overdue so I'm not really sure.

I had a thought earlier and wondered what the feasibility of it was.
There are so many animals in rescue centres, and so many people stuck at home with no company, motivation to get up and about etc. Do any rescues ask people with disabilities, unemployed etc to foster their animals? They could provide the food etc that they would have to if the animal was in kennels anyway, but both the animal and person would benefit from the company and routine, and the rescue would free up kennel space.

I know that without Little Sod there would be so many days where I just wouldn't even get out of bed, but luckily he makes his displeasure very clear!

Right- catch up! Code - that stalker fly sounds creepy! I wonder if it liked your smell/taste or something and wanted to hang around for more?!

MU- nothing wrong with getting rid of memories of your ex! I have Timehop too and this week it keeps showing memories from my friend's wedding 4 years ago. Only thing is, they're not together any more and 2 of the girls in the group photos with the 'gang' are exes too! A lot can change in 4 years! :p I should really go through old photos and get rid of friends' exes, really for their sake and the sake of their new girlfriends! :o It seems like a lot of admin though! :p I'm lucky that DH and I were together when we first joined FB so at least we don't have exes on there to worry about!

Big hugs Flybaby, hope you feel better soon.

Hi Trek girl! Is that Star Trek or just trekking like walking?! :)

As for A Levels, I got ACC in Business Studies, French and History. I'm lucky I got Cs in French and History TBH, I just was so totally over learning by the time I took the exams! :o I never went to uni, I got accepted but I just hid the letters and never did anything about it. It just wasn't for me. I'm doing OK without it and I was going to do Business Studies anyway which is a bit of a non subject so doubt I'd be any more high flying/earning than I am now, I'd just have a lot more debt! :p I wish there'd been more guidance at college regarding what to do if uni isn't for you... only 1 teacher actually told us that it was OK to not go to uni and that there are other options, yet we had no access to these other options!

Well done to Gitdog! :T What is this zombie series you're watching Elsien? I watched an episode of The Fuzz (did Calley suggest it?) but I just wasn't feeling it!

Katy - I remember the pregnancy toots! :rotfl: I keep giggling whenever I think about a friend of mine getting pregnant at some point in the future as she and her DH don't pass gas in front of each other (seriously?!). That'll all change!!! :rotfl:

I don't have any A levels, despite going to a Grammar School (wanted to leave at the earliest opportunity). However I went to Uni in my 30s as a mature student and got a degree in Geography (unclassified - I chose not to do the Honours course -classic underachiever, me :) ).

When I went back to work full time in 1996 my boss had the same degree (subject and classification) as me, also I used to cross his daughter over the road when I was a lollipop lady, so that was quite a good start. I didn't think I'd be able to use a degree in mainly Human Geography (Physical Geography very interesting but very hard) for anything...but it fits quite well into Town Planning. :)

My husband was a mature student with no A levels too, but he got a First studying mainly Earth Sciences (Physical Geography, Geology, Geophysics, Meteorology etc) and went on to be a very popular Geography and Geology teacher for over twenty years (although I think his secret dream was to be a TV weather man :) ).

  • Good morning to you too, Georgie! Fred is very happy! He is currently surrounded by a pretty flower shaped cactus and a Bromeliad. I waved at him earlier, he is directly in my field of vision so often gets a smile and wave and always a pat when I walk past him.

Hahahaha! I'm ambidextrous, do I get to join in on left handed day? I was solely left handed until I was 3 when my mother decided to change that and still I use my left hand for a lot of things. My writing is clear but totally different depending on which hand I use oddly enough. I cannot use a knife at all unless it is in my left hand but can use right handed scissors as well as left handed. I'm weird.
    ...

A teacher tried to do that with me by tapping me with a ruler and telling me my writing was a mess. Didn't work though and luckily we didn't have her for long.

Yay! Sounds like Fred has a very happy home! :)

Happy left handed day to the weirdos! :p My DH is left footed but right handed... maybe I should buy him a cake to celebrate but eat half, that's fair, right?! We're trying to figure out if DS is left or right handed but his favoured side seems to swap day by day!

Weirdos! :rotfl: I told D that he was meant to try everything left handed for a day, he told me no way as "it's witchcraft!" I was tempted to try that cake idea! :p:

Happy left handed day. I am ambidextrous also. I favour my left hand for writing but can write legibly with my right. I knit, crochet, and use powertools with my right hand.

I use my left hand for writing and most things like using scissors, tools etc, but use my right for playing sports. At work there was me and two left handed blokes, and once on a night out, everyone started playing darts. We all used our right hand to throw the dart, our manager found this weird and was like "freaks!" :rotfl:
    .

Morning all! Hope everyone who had an off day yesterday is feeling abit better today.

D's took the day off work today, so we're going shopping. We don't have a Lidl in our town any more, so we're going to the nearest one and are going to try the Lidl Challenge. I need to know if their tomato soup is really just as good as Heinz! :p

Eta: don't know what happened to the middle quote above?

Right, written my list of points to discuss with the midwife later, about my appointment yesterday.

Penguining it as I don't want to put anyone off trying to get help, its just a one off experience so if you are undecided about asking for help then do it, and don't read this!!

    Penguin:

Had an appointment at the hospital for increasing anxiety. Had to wait for nearly an hour to be seen in a boiling hot waiting room full of screaming kids throwing toys at each other. Very nearly left as I started getting very agitated and felt faint.

When I saw the doctor she told me that I needed to speak to my GP or health visitor about depression and anxiety. My GP told me to speak to the midwife who referred me to the hospital. My health visitor told me to speak to my GP.

She asked me four times if I was sure my scans had come back normal, which scared the life out of me!

She listened to babys heart, although I'm am 99% sure it was my heart beat she picked up as she was listening in the wrong place and couldn't work out what position baby was in.

She told me if I struggled I needed to call the crisis team or a cpn (neither of which you can do here without having a referral to them).

She made me an appointment for a week after baby is born to put me back on medication, despite me telling her twice I wouldn't be taking medication whilst pregnant or breastfeeding.

She told me I needed the appointment anyway to discuss postnatal depression as I will have a full relapse after baby is born as mothers who have had episodes of depression prior to pregnancy always relapse.

I will NOT be going back to see her!

Code, your stalker fly.........it could have been a type of horse-fly or deer-fly - some are brownish/orangeyish/yellowish. They do tend to hang about as well, unlike house flies etc. which move at the slightest quiver.
The females are bloodsuckers. The males don't bite.

Perhaps you were the only mammal around that day! :D

Katy, yes you're right to discuss all this with the midwife. And keep discussing it until you're happy that you've been answered in full.
Just remember, that if you feel ghastly, either now or after the break-out, it is the illness......it DOES NOT mean that you are a bad mum.
After all, if you had a broken leg, and were unable to change nappies, or bath baby etc, that does not mean you are a bad mum, does it? But it does mean you would need help.
So it's the same when your mind is a bit 'broken'. You need more help for a time. It's just as real an illness as a broken leg.
So please ask for all the help you need. :A

thank you all for support - much appreciated.x

As for zombies - you are all completely safe as we are zombie mad in this house and have full zombie apocalypse plan! Bit of a standing joke and I even bought DH a zombie engraved spade for our wedding anniversary. The series with the highly amusing amish zombies is Z nation - it's hilarious. But for zombie newbies - you have to start with Shaun of the dead, absolute british classic.

Ok.......now off to deal with leaking roof discovered this morning as the water dripped into the kitchen............sigh..............ah the joys of house ownership and getting a bad tradesman - one plumber 4 years ago and this will be the 5th leak as a result of his work.......... two of which were major floods and one of which was a gas leak........it seems never-ending and I am now so reluctant to let anyone work on the house as I just don't trust them. Just easier to do it myself and know it is done properly.

Hugs n squishes to all who need them today.

    Katy - what an awful doctor, no wonder you were stressed when you came out. {{{{squish}}}}}
