Well done Stoodles! I am trying to psych myself up to go to a pregnancy yoga class. It isn't easy walking in to a room full of strangers. I don't know why I find it difficult though, I organise events for meetup sometimes and I don't find that half as scary. Very odd!

My friends dad was a fireman, pretty sure he would have stood out like a sore thumb on Puxis' picture!!

    !
Go early so that you're one of the first there. That way you'll already be in the room as the others gradually arrive, so you can say hello individually.

My problem is less the walking into a room - I come across ok when I first meet people - it's more that I think after 5 minutes they're all going to suss out how boring I am and wander off to find someone more interesting leaving me in the corner doing my wallflower impression.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

Don't get over excited now, but there were four firemen, and they arrived in a real fire pump. Aren't firemen getting young nowadays? None of them was wildly handsome, but the were all pretty trim, and quite witty. It seems that is important we keep a phone in our bedrooms, because if you need a fireman in the middle of the night you should be able to summon one easily.

Do you think it is easier to organise an event than simply to turn up at someones else's do? If you are the organiser, you are in control.

It's true you are in control if you organise it, but if you just turn up, you can leave if you get fed up!

Yes, my diminutive firemen told me about the phone, which I already did. Preferably a mobile, in case the fire damages the electrics of a landline.

I have a landline by my bed, and take my mobile and laptop to bed with me.

I am always making plans to go out, but rarely do. The thought of getting somewhere and being looked at, because I am on my own puts me off and its easy to find an excuse not to go out.

So often I have gone out and been asked 'Oooh, you are on your own?!' I just want to crawl away when that happens. Or, I can't find anywhere to sit (I need to be near a door or on the end of a row of seats) because I think I might have a panic attack.

Weird that now I decide to post the site is being difficult. :(

Been off for 5 days and back at work tomorrow...and i'm feeling anxious. I know working 6 days in a row isn't anything out of the ordinary for most people but i'm worried if it's stressful (fri/sat/sun most likely will be), that its going to affect my mood negatively. I'm already feeling somewhat crap today :( I know i've just got to crack on with it, but the anxiety is bad, partly cos of work, partly cos of the nightmare of trying to get to work (thanks to tram replacement works it now take me 2 hours to make what would be a 30 min journey), and the fact i need to ask for for info for my tax credits claim that if they can't help with will leave me up a certain creek without a paddle. :(

MessedUp, you're feeling disorientated because you've had some time off, and work now appears strange and alien. Plus you're missing Swain.

Take each day one at a time. Don't look at the whole 6 days. Just look at getting through today first. After today, you can deal with tomorrow.

The minute you get into work, ask about the pay slip stuff. I'm sure that won't be a problem. It will be a cinch to give you a copy of the details.
And is your pay put straight into your bank account?if so, your bank statements would have details of the payments. Also, are you sent an annual tax statement? That would have the total pay received over the tax year.

You can do it! You'll be fine!

It's a pain about the journey, though. How long will the train replacement thing go on for? If it's for more than a day, make sure work know you'll be having problems getting to and from work.

Last night I dreamt about firemen on a beach. They weren't the pretty kind though!
