I used to wear pencil skirts and fishnets a lot, back in the day. But now...I think maybe a bit formal and sexysexy to jump straight into. If I showed up at work in business dress, they'd think I had an interview or was due in court. :rotfl:Eu não sou uma tartaruga. Eu sou um codigopombo.0

OH has just found out that he's not got the job.. trying to comfort him is proving difficult right now. It's apparently the worst thing that could've happened to him today..
On the other hand, if he's depressed, starting a new job could be very stressful at this particular time.
He did, though, attend an interview, which is quite a feat when you're feeling so bad! And a good many applicants don't even get as far as an interview! So that's an achievement in itself!(I just lurve spiders!)

This is what I've said.. He's even said himself that he couldn't have done anymore in the interview so i'm proud of him for that. I think because he hates his job at the moment, he can only see that he's failed and not that he can just apply for another job when he finds one that's right for him.
My issue with it is that since we've been together, he's had so many jobs and the next one is always "the dream job". He worked at halfords and then found a deputy job at Phones4u and that was the dream, and then he found an estate agent job (job at present) which was the ULTIMATE DREAM! - turns out.. he hates selling houses!!!0 -
I don't know what it was like for anyone else when they were younger, but rj's post made me realise that I never heard general conversations about going for jobs and then not getting them. Everyone always seemed to be begged and bribed to work for the most wonderful companies.
Yet there always seemed to be at least 4 other interviewees so at least 80% weren't getting jobs. You never heard from them.
No wonder we are all perfectionists with low self esteem. One of the biggest things I am trying to drill into littlewing is that you need to be able to handle the disappointment. (Not that I am sending her out to work just yet).
ETA: there is no shame in finding out that you are not suited/wishing to do a particular job or career. That's part of the joy of being able to go for opportunities. Your DP is simply learning about himself. Keep positive and things will move in the right direction. Well done on getting back to work too - that must have taken quite some courage. It taps into the terror I would have felt in the same situation.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0 -
I was always told by my mum that you can't always get the job you want, you just try your best and that's all you can do.
I think with my OH, he thinks he's better than anyone else and he shouldn't have to try, he should just get the job because he can big himself up without having the goods to back it up.
