Government Boiler Scheme/Benefits
Comments

Just remember that if they are found not to be eligible, they'll end up having to pay for it. Salesmen really aren't bothered about the fine details...
Apart from someone in the household receiving a qualifying benefit, there are additional criteria; the most important of which is that the total household income amongst all working-age residents must not exceed £16,010. This figure was decided by the government as being low enough to qualify for funding assistance
but surely there's no obligation to say no to them doing it if they have to pay, as I'm sure buying your own boiler and finding a private gas man would be cheaper than the price they charge?
The current stages are merely them doing a quote?0 -
You need to look at the various criteria that entitles someone to claim under the scheme.
Is their boiler old/inefficient ?
Is anyone in the household receiving a qualifying benefit ?
Is the total of household income below £16,010 ?
If they answer yes to all of them, then under the scheme, they're entitled to it.0 -

Boiler has been condemned: so yes
WCTC Received: yes
household income: is this parents and partner all added together, or each individual persons?
partner on £13.5k a year, father on £11k a year PT so does that make household £24.5k? :S0 -

It's the total. On your figures, the household income is greater than £16,010 which means they don't qualify under the scheme.

Seems that the majority rate Valliant as 1 star!0 -
According to their other thread it is only the daughter that qualifies.
I was thinking the same as Suarez but was biting my tongue
As they say - there are ways and means, ways and means! No different to benefit claimants who want to find a way around the regulations that will enable them to maximise their entitlements0 -

Savings don't come into the equation. I was never asked what savings we have.and they are considerable. We were offered a new boiler on this scheme because we qualify but we chose to not have it as the one they were to install is a load of *****. We are having ours fitted by our local heating company at our cost.0 -

Thought it was funded by the energy companies as part of their obligation (Energy Companies Obligation scheme)

It is, they will be penalised by the government if they can't show that they have taken active steps to reduce the emissions of old boilers.
Quite simple. Take out a high emission boiler and put in a new A rated one.0 -

Is their boiler old/inefficient ? Yes it was - it was 12 years old
Is anyone in the household receiving a qualifying benefit ? Yes there is
Is the total of household income below £16,010 ? This question was never considered even though we supplied evidence that our annual income far exceeds that figure.0
