I don't see why the daughter would be eligible anyway (residency issues aside) with high savings. Do we really throw money at those who are in such an enviable position?

personally, I don't think they qualify based on the way that the energy company are doing it via my partner as like you've stated: she's not a perm tenant. But we'll see,

in my eyes, boiler cover is a necessity in any household, as what's £6 p/m when you cant afford the £1000's when it breaks down.

Sorry about that - no idea why the link doesn't work.

If you complete this form it does actually say (in the notes) that a family member living in the house may qualify although the previous question asks about ownership/tenancy:

Actually...reading this link suggests that it's based on household income. (As long as someone living in the home receives a qualifying benefit....etc)

    Who qualifies....

precisely, I've seen that some companies have quotas that need to be made, and could it be that she has been ushered an acceptance whereas normally it would fail?

I'm not one to argue when something from high profiting companies is offered free, but I can see the other side of the argument where people cant afford a boiler and they are worse off than others but they don't qualify for freebies, similar to how a footballer on £200k a week gets free clothes/cars etc when they can afford those luxuries.

"To qualify for a grant, you must own or privately rent the property. If you are a private tenant, you will need verbal permission from your landlord before making an enquiry."

in this case, her dad was asked if its okay... he's not a landlord though? are they bypassing certain things? can they do that? do these companies get "cash back" if they "sell" so many of these schemes?

The company claims the cost from the government so the boiler isn't given free by the "high profiting companies".

Just remember that if they are found not to be eligible, they'll end up having to pay for it. Salesmen really aren't bothered about the fine details...

Apart from someone in the household receiving a qualifying benefit, there are additional criteria; the most important of which is that the total household income amongst all working-age residents must not exceed £16,010. This figure was decided by the government as being low enough to qualify for funding assistance

    Are you sure?

Thought it was funded by the energy companies as part of their obligation (Energy Companies Obligation scheme)
