yeh as stated, at this moment a free boiler is better than no boiler. they've finally accepted the ID, and I believe its a baxi or something they are installing.

no idea if that's any good, but its still better than nothing.

Sorry but am I the only one reading this wrong or something?

She is going to claim a free boiler for her parents house because she is on benefits then move out in 3-6 months?

I think her parents qualify for a new boiler under the scheme, but because she also lives there, her income was included.

I could be entirely wrong though... :)

According to their other thread it is only the daughter that qualifies.

I was thinking the same as Suarez but was biting my tongue ;)

yes, I know: it feels "dirty" when I think of it :( but when her parents called their energy company, they asked some questions, and due to my partner being eligible for the scheme, they put her parents down this path.

I'm not the kind of person who likes the idea of "scamming" a company for freebies, but as they said that it is something they are entitled too, why would they say no.

They are fully aware of my partners intentions to vacate the property within 6months, and they said its not an issue, as she lives there currently.

This is interesting as everything I have read says that you have to be a home owner or tenant to qualify as well as being in receipt of the qualifying benefit(s). So, are you saying that your partner's parents do not qualify in their own right - ie on benefits?

Have they actually been told that they are definitely eligible - ie. received written confirmation?

If they have then please give us the details of the company who have agreed in these circumstances as it may be very useful to others.

No, they don't qualify based on their own circumstances, but my partner is registered at the address via the Electoral Roll (which is how they knew she lived there) and they asked if she is in receipt of ESA/JSA/IS/CTC/WCTC/DLA/PIP.

As far as I know, they have been accepted, as the surveyor (or whatever you call him) visited on Friday to look at the old boiler, and see if its positioning and whatnot qualifies for the scheme or if not, then a "contribution" might have to be paid. I believe they are going to get the final decision today/tomorrow.

will update with the company name/details. but yeh, they said my partner is a tenant as she lives there (in my eyes a tenant is a person with a landlord with a written tenancy agreement, and not your dad being the homeowner?)

    Ooops :o

Seems you and Suarez are right....
...to qualify for the free scheme you must be in receipt of JSA/ESA/CTC/WCTC/CB/DLA/PIP and they're not on any of those.

    It says in this link

that you need to be a permanent resident of the property in order to qualify. Interesting.
