Government Boiler Scheme/Benefits

Hi all, posting on behalf of partner: maybe this is the wrong section also. sorry!
she lives with parents still (we're looking to move within next 3-6months) however parents boiler has packed in and they're eligible for a scheme for a free boiler (as she claims WCTC/CB) and the company needs proof of address. As my partner is not a tenant as such, she has no proof of address: a bank statement will suffice but why is the top page not acceptable (with SC & AN blanked out) why do they need to see her balance and whatnot? our savings are in that account so will this not mean the application will be declined due to her balance being £10k +?

It would go on their income not your partners surely.0

they're saying its household income... I've never known anyone to use the term household income to include anyone other than the homeowner?
and as for the proof of address, they've rejected the top page of the bank statement, as they need to see "all 7 pages if it states page 1 of 7"0 -
Can you not send copies of the WCTC/CB benefits letters which confirm her entitlement to the scheme and also show hers/parents address on the confirmation letter? Would this not kill 2 birds with one stone?0

Exactly my question to them.. the reply "you cant use the income proof as address proof" :S0 -

Is this the ECO/Green Deal scheme?
It seems that every man and his dog is selling this to the public.
It sounds a good idea, but I would suggest you get hold of the terms & conditions before agreeing to anything.
The only people that are really gaining with this are the fuel companies in having to reduce their carbon emission figures with 'bought in' carbon credits.
In some cases it is cheaper and better to have your own new boiler installed.
Better guarantees and better quality equipment.
Some of the boilers going in under this scheme are right at the end of the quality line. You won't see them installing 5 start boilers.
They charge/account for the most expensive but supply and fit the cheapest.
In some cases they are accounting for fitting and supplying a new boiler - £3600. The supplied boiler costs less than £800!!!0 -

As they are in urgent need of a boiler and eligible for a free one under the scheme, I expect they won't be looking to pay for a better quality boiler at the present time.0 -

I just thought that it was important to mention that what is supplied goes along with it being free.
I have a Potterton Suprima fitted at the moment. It is 12 years old and past its sell by date, although it still works.
NPower carried out an assessment and told me that I was entitled to a free new one. When I asked what they intended to supply, it was a Baxi Solo. Upon hearing that and knowing that it is inferior to the one I already have, I told them were they could put it - not in my house!
Seems they have a job lot. Anyhow I have just been quoted for a better make and model which will cost £1100 fully fitted. It will probably:D outlive the Baxi by 25 years!0 -

mmmm...........billywilly wrote: »I'm still in a quandary over this ECO boiler scheme. I have had to demand from N Power a copy of the conditions. They initially wanted to tell me over the phone what they were and for me to agree them. Now they keep ringing me up wanting a date to start.
The conditions look OK, but I am still very suspicious that someone wants to fit a new boiler, put a new flue in, carry out all of the remedial work and take 2 days to complete the job for NOTHING.
Since when were people or companies in this country willing to do a job and provide all of the materials and not expect someone to pay? Honestly I'm frightened to death that I am going to end up owing thousands because I missed some small print or something.
I really need some reassurance pleaseIts not that we have more patience as we grow older, its just that we're too tired to care about all the pointless drama0 -

mmmm...........
Those posts are mine - I decided against the free boiler for the reasons stated.
Do you actually offer ANY advice on this forum?
You seem to spend your time wading through people's posts and re-posting them for some really obscure reason.
When I get time I'll have a look at your posts over the past few months to see if it is really worth your while being on here. From what I have seen so far you are about as helpful as a chocolate teapot!
