    Yes, implant in arm.

I was actually phoning to see when hormones and things usually settled down as I hadn't had an AF since its removal and had some funny symptoms :o:o

    She suggested a test... :rotfl:

    Congratulations! :j

    May I ask a question???
    (or two.)
When you had the implant taken out, how long was it before you fell pregnant?

    What is an AF? :o

AF means "Aunty Flo", which means period (menstruation)

This is what I am unsure about :(

I got the implant out mid-February.

Hadn't had any periods since then and so made a telephone appointment with the doctor. On that call she asked me how I've been feeling and when I told her, she suggested a test :rotfl:

I have NO idea how far along I am, so I could literally have gotten pregnant the week after it was out, or it could have been a couple of months after.

Hopefully I will get an early scan and be able to understand a bit more!

    Oh thank you!

Just wondered as my niece wants to have it, as she is struggling with the pill, and she is worried about having it, and then it taking 2 years or even longer to get pregnant.

A pal of mine had the injection and stopped it after 3-4 years, and it took her 20 months to get caught! She was only 26.

But it looks like you get pregnant a bit speedier than that when you have the implant removed.

    Well done again! :)

And thanks to lil-elvis for telling me what AF is. :) Never heard that in my life. :D

There are so many different variants of the "pill" I would suggest she saw her GP again to try a different one. An implant or injection are far more tricky to undo if they aren't suitable. As for how long it takes to become pregnant after stopping birth control, that has far more variables. I became pregnant within 2 months of stopping the pill, miscarried and ultimately needed ivf to have our daughter.

    Thanks :)

However, my niece wouldn't have decided to have the implant after just one birth control pill not suiting her. She has already tried some 5 or 6 different pills over the past 8-9 years, and each one has come with issues and problems...

So the doctors have now come to the conclusion that the pill is not for her and it was actually the doctor who advised her to have the injection or inplant - and she is having the implant.

I was just interested to know how long it would be after the implant was removed, before you would fall pregnant. As the OP got caught quickly; it looks like it's no worse than when you come off the pill.

Sorry about your miscarrying and I am glad you finally have a daughter. :)

Has she tried Cerazette pill? Cerazette is progesterone only, the same as the implant and Depo injection.

If she didn't get on with Cerazette or other progesterone only, I doubt the implant/injection would be much different, and perhaps she'd be better to consider the copper coil which has no hormones.

Disclaimer: I'm not a nurse or anything but discussed details at great length with a GP and nurse colleague as a recent unrelated diagnosis meant that I couldn't have any oestrogen anymore. I've had the implant for 6 years in the past, went to Microgynon for a year and am on Cerazette now, and can't tell the difference in terms of my cycle between the implant and Cerazette (I don't have a 'cycle' or periods as such, I just have random spotting occasionally the same as when I had the implant)

    Hi. :)

Sorry, I can't tell you what pills she has been on as I don't know.

But there is no way she is trying any more. And as I said, the doctor has now recomended that she tries the implant; so this is what she is doing.

The last pill she was on, made her have 3 five-day periods a month; painful and heavy and inconvenient for her busy and professional lifestyle.

Hopefully the implant will be OK for her.

There is no guarantee she will ever fall pregnant, it isn't that simple.

I chose the implant because it has less hormones and fertility returns to normal within 24 hours apparently.

    It's obviously true :rotfl::rotfl:
