Kaos, to be on the safe side I'd get a locksmith booked, especially if you won't be staying there once completed.
If you are willing to store things then I'd say that was up to you, but don't let them live there afterwards.0

Well done, that's something. Will the property be vacant at 9am? You will be turning up with your keys expecting to find an empty property. Is that 100%?? Still sounds a bit iffy to me. Get your Sol to confirm with their sol for sure. I would also take a little drive by the house and check to see if there is anything being moved out.
No, we all know it won't be vacant at 9am. Including the solicitors. But at the moment, compared to losing it all together and being out on the street in a couple of weeks it's a start.
We will be taking a drive by later when OH finishes work. Apparently they are moving what they can to a relatives today so there should be evidence of that.If a post is helpful to you, please take a second to click "thanks", it makes us feel all warm and fuzzy inside! 0 0

            OP.
 Turn up at 9am.
Take the key, then open your boot, take out a new lock, and fit it there and then.
There's no chain here, so give leeway on access, but absolutely no way are they in the property post 4:30pm.
You can then give them access saturday to pick up anything left over.
 Thats it.
Oh and any abuse, you simply close the door with the newly fitted lock and call the police.0

Thanks, yes, we'll certainly be doing the locksmith thing
We won't let them stay there overnight. We're going to dig our heels in now, we had a good relationship with the sellers until last night but now we've seen an ugly side of them so are taking no chances. If a post is helpful to you, please take a second to click "thanks", it makes us feel all warm and fuzzy inside! 0 0

You don't have any obligation to store his stuff and if it were me, after the way he's been acting, I'd put it all out on the kerb tomorrow and let him deal with it. You sounds too kind-hearted to do that, so I'd suggest telling him anything left has to be put in the garage and that, with 24 hours' notice, you'll turn up to unlock it for him and he can retrieve his possessions. Sounds like he needs a good slap!
Oh and, as everyone's been saying, change the locks as soon as you get over there tomorrow so this nutter can't let himself into your house!0

I would go with the above and get the locks changed bang on 9am or shortly after. You can then supervise them in what will be your new home. Who is to say they won't trash it or leave behind lots of rubbish. Just be really careful on this one, you really need to be able to trust the seller..can you? Get locks changed on outside gates/garage/shed etc.
If it gets heated, call the rozzers.0

Funnily enough, we are the type of people who get walked all over because we're too kind hearted, you hit the nail on the head.
We could have done without the bill for fitting new locks but it looks like we will need to. The biggest problem with that is that OH is at work 8:30-5 so realistically we can't do anything until then. Hence why I'm unsure what will happen between 9am and 5pm. Sounds like we might want to take some friends over when we go If a post is helpful to you, please take a second to click "thanks", it makes us feel all warm and fuzzy inside! Lol, thanks, that actually made me smile for the first time today
And yep, OH is handy so I'm sure he can change a couple of locks easy enough. If a post is helpful to you, please take a second to click "thanks", it makes us feel all warm and fuzzy inside! 0 0
