Local authorities and utility companies should be compelled to put all services in conduits under pavements or in gardens, one NOT in the middle of the road. This is a money saving issue as roadworks make millions of us late for work, local authority road repairs would be minimised and Council Tax can be reduced or spent on more appropriate items.

This would encourage people to look for work slightly further out as travel would be more affordable. For those already in work and on low income it would put more money in their pockets which they are likely to spend and would help boost the economy. Finally it would also be good for the environment as it would get some people out of their cars and on to public transport.0

Insurance companies should be obliged to allow a no-claims discount on their pet insurance. The cost of insuring a dog has doubled in five years.

Companies or organisations Phone numbers that will cost the caller more than the normal rate, and may also be excluded from 'All calls' contracts, should state the facts before the caller commits to making the call.0

Okay maybe not a money saving suggestion but a humanitarian one.
It should be compulsory for companies, large enough to have a separate Human Resources department, to send out rejection messages to unsuccessful job applicants who supply an email address.0 -
Since retiring at 65 last year, receiving a state pension based on full employment all my adult life now means I no longer receive Pension Credit. Because I paid in to two occupational pensions during my working years the monthly payments from those pushes my income over the required threshold by £13 a week. However, because I live in rented accommodation with a Housing association, I now have to pay £12 per week towards my Rent and £20 per month towards my Council Tax. I no longer qualify for Free spectacles or Dental treatment. My hospital journeys and Parking fees now have to be paid for by me. When there is a raise in the state pension, the same amount is deducted from my Housing Benefit and Council Tax allowances. I'm asking that Governments raise the threshold that pensioners require to live on rather than raising their Pension. It's the only way we can hang on to what we have paid for in our working lives. It's a scam when Governments boast about raising the state pension and then claw it back in council tax, housing benefit and NHS treatments because it has pushed the pensioner over their recommended threshold.0

Food manufacturers (and makers of other goods usually found in a supermarket) should have to clearly indicate on packaging when a product has been reduced in size but remains the same price.0

When broadband suppliers advertise their monthly prices they should be made to include the telephone line rental charge as well if the broadband service cannot be purchased without it.
Ideally I would like to see compulsory line renal charges removed altogether and just pay an extra £5 - £10 per month rather than be forced to take a service I have no need for, but that would be a biggish change.0 -
I would like to see the RRP completely abolished.
It is always misused by being grossly inflated by the manufacturer so that all retailers can claim to be offering savings such as 50% off, buy 1,2 or 3 and get 1 free etc which, in fact, takes the 'offer' price to what it should be in the first place.
This way all retailers would be 'playing on a level field' and people such as pensioners would not have to bury more than 1 to get a proper deal.0
