Macs are great for one thing, and one thing only: PRODUCTION.
Oh no, I've just been using mine to read email!!0 -

I just used mine to synchronise my diary across my phone, tablet and desktop with ease.
I also used it to keep all of my music on all devices as and when I want to.
All this whilst swing my legs freely under my desk where my computer is not based...

Me too, perhaps I should admit to 'photoshopping' on mine.
Is that PRODUCTION? Surely hope so......
All said OP, if you want one, buy one, it will last you a long time and you will likely have a positive experience

Is it expensive for the hardware, yes, could I have purchased a cheaper PC with the same power, yes.
However, I paid for the convenience, synching all my devices together, office 365.
You can do all this without a mac. So that's not really an argument pro mac...0 -

More about want than need?
Same as the OP really..........0 -
Why do these threads always have to turn into a bashing/fan war?
I don't understand why people Bit*h about hardware specs of Macs vs Windows. My main reason for a Mac is ease of use and personally preferring OS X to Windows. I don't give a damn about getting a windows machine with the same spec for cheaper, it's not going to run OS X is it? which is the entire point of a Mac (it's not Windows!)
*Yes I know about Hackintosh and running OS X on windows hardware - however that requires a lot of time, modding and correct hardware, not being able to update etc...0 -

That opinion comes directly from 1996AD.
The only one I'll give you from that list is playing games, since there's a bigger selection of games (and hardware) for PC.0 -

Correct, not Pro Mac.
I, and my personal preferences WANTED a mac, they look nice, work well and i like them in my office.
I am sure a £300 pc would do the same job, but tesco value cornflakes will do the same, but I WANT kellogs.
I don't need adaptive cruise control, but I bought it as an add on to my car.
Using the assumption that we only buy what is needed would make 90% of peoples purchases redundant. We don't need a dish washer, we don't need a flat screen TV.
Sometimes, you need to remove inherent logic, and just buy what feels right for you.0 -
I have had a macbook pro for 2 years now and would never go back to a pc. Apple products are a lot more user friendly.0

As a previously many years windows user I bought my first iMac five years ago. How I wish I had done so many years before! I know it is a hackneyed phrase but Macs do 'just work' and do so in an effortless sensible manner. I have an iPad but no other Apple products so it was not because I needed to synchronise things.
The operating system was a revelation after using clunky Windows for so long. It is different and initially takes some getting used to - the main problem being that it is so simple and straightforward that I was trying to find Windows-like complications where they did not exist.
Yes, an iMac is expensive compared with a Windows machine but I have had a Sony Vaio which cost the same and died several years ago.
If you can afford it you will not be disappointed with an iMac. I might also mention that I now have poor eyesight but my 27 inch five years old Mac causes me no problems.0
