From the mouse with only one button? :rotfl:
As pointed out the one big button is so much more. It's a touch pad like you get on a laptop. Not only does it detect left and right click it also scrolls when you move a finger over it and you can navigate back and forwards between pages by moving two fingers left and right.
Nothing you can't do with a decent wheel mouse and that's my point they are so similar there would be little or no confusionOne by one the penguins are slowly stealing my sanity.0 -
So I want to print for example ..
I am used to going File-> Print
Oh wait - there is no "file"s
What was it that the OP wanted? Mail and Web Browsing?
Mail and Safari both have "File" menu items, with "Print". So you print with File->Print. It's hard to think of a Mac App for which that isn't true, and in fact I think it's in the HID guidelines for applications.
Control-P? Cmd-P. Control-C? Cmd-C.
Right click? Right click (the one button mouse thing hasn't been true for years, but even if you want to do it old-style, Control-Click is hardly difficult).0 -
I was simply pointing out the fact, that the way the OP is used to using their current computer will be different if using a mac.
Jesus you fanbois are touchy ...
(another reason to steer clear of macs and their users or the shop "geniuses" (PMSL))
No really isn't isn't that different but you don't want to believe it and that's fair enough but someone has touched a nerve as you have descended to using insults. I bought the mac because I liked it, the fact the OS is *nix based was a bonus.
The whole PC Mac argument is pointless but people do like to argue. For me is about what suits and an individuals needs and desires. I spent 40 years working in software engineering and I'm a Unix programmer. I've had windows and now I have a Mac but I also have several Linux machines.
I certainly don't believe in ridiculing someone else's choices ìf they're different from mine. One by one the penguins are slowly stealing my sanity.0 -
No I agree.
My point however was that there is a difference.
And that that difference will have to be learned if the user buys a mac.
It is something to consider that the OP might not have known
I wasn't intending to start a massive mac vs PC argument - There are other forums for that

If you can afford any Mac including IMac -go for it.
I switched to Macbook approx 5 years ago.
Has been a pleasure to use for web browsing/music/online banking/etc
Mac's offer something a wee bit different from Windows based p.c.s and are built excellently.
'learning' to use OS X.....is enjoyable what I've loved since switching....haven't considered using windows at home since.Replenished CRA Reports.2020 Nissan Leaf 128-149 miles top charge. Savings depleted. VM Stream tv M250 Volted to M350 then M500 since returned to 1gb0 -

but the point remains sound
No it doesn't. Your point was that OSX was different from Windows - File, Print - and I've told you that you use exactly the same system on OSX. Your point was blown out of the water.
So after that, your point is that there is a difference. Sure there is, yes. And there's a difference between Windows 7 and Windows 8, and look at the squeeling people did about that. Some people don't like change, some people do. I like, and use, Windows 7, 8 and OSX. They're different, but not so different that you can't pick any of the 3 up very quickly.0 -
I have always been a PC user, however, started my own business last year and 'wanted' a mac to sync with my ipad and iphone.
Is it expensive for the hardware, yes, could I have purchased a cheaper PC with the same power, yes.
However, I paid for the convenience, synching all my devices together, office 365.
Plus it works, and works effortlessly. Yes I know, it should at that price, but going back to using windows, just feels 'clunky'.
I am not an apple fan boy, but I do like the slickness of apple, and the overall feel, is one of seamless work.
If you can afford it do it, as long as you are not buying it for its 'power'
When I bought my car, I didn't need heated seats, I didn't need a dimming rear view mirror, I wanted it. Sure I could have purchased a VW up base line same outcome, a to b... You get my point.0 -
Macs are great for one thing, and one thing only: PRODUCTION.
Whether it be music creation or mixing, video editing, graphic design, they are brill at all that stuff.
Web browsing?
