PPI Reclaiming successes and failures

New to this but recently sent a template letter to Alliance + Leicester for PPI on a small loan in 2004. Within 4 working days i had a letter offering me the full cost of the PPI + 8% interest totalling £488. Between my partner and myself we have
1) Letter into the dreaded Firstplus for PPI mis-selling
2) Letter into Sainsbury Bank for PPI mis-selling
3) 5 x seperate Letters into MBNA for PPI mis-selling
4) SAR letter into Barclays (possibility of two further claims)
Here's hoping for more success and thanks for the advice to date.
Think the Firstplus one will be tricky as this was through a broker that is no longer trading but i have been advised through FirstPlusComplaints to pursue FP first.
Thks.

Go for it with firstplus, i have just had full offer of premiums plus interest and payments made!0 -

I received a settlement from Welcome Finance today for £506.43:j:T I was told at the time of taking the loan out that it would be rejected if I did not accept PPI and the upheld my complaint, all done in a total of 6 weeks! A nice boost to my savings now I am completley debt free:T:j
Wow, well done Emma, :T:beer::jThe one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
I took out a firstplus loan in 2002 for 25,000, worst thing we ever did.
To try and get rid of the loan, we remortgaged and repaid 25,000 in 2005. To my horror, the loan still had an outstanding balance of 7,500!!
When i found out about the ppi misselling, i dug out all my paperwork and was shocked to learn that firstplus had indeed added a single premium ppi of 6,500 onto the loan which would be paid over the term of the loan, 25 years, even though it would expire within 5 years!! the cheek of it!!
Anyway, that day i emailed customercare, which is easy to do from a link on the main website. I received a letter 5 days later to say that they would look into the case and they would be back in touch within 4 weeks. Then i had another letter exactly 4 weeks later saying that they need more time and would get back to me within another 4 weeks. I knew that by then the 8 week deadline would be up and i may have to go to the FOS.
Anyway, today, exactly 8 weeks to the day, i have had an offer to pay the premium in full including interest and premiums already paid!
Im really happy, but the only thing im not fully happy with is that the letter is very vague and doesnt state exact figures they will pay, im hoping that because i only have a settlement figure of 6,200, that the loan will come to an end! I have rang them today to put the figures they are offering in writing before i finally except. what do u think??
They say they would but it could take another 10 days! ive waited long enough!
I am now writing off to lloyds, countrywise, and northern rock :j
wish me luck!0 -

Thank you Martin! We would never have tried to reclaim if it had not been for the help your site gave me. We had 4 PPI's with Barclays over 14 years, your template letter went to Barclays last August, who refused to repay, keeping us hanging on with no answer, we then sent a letter to the Financial Ombudsman, who have now said we will be recieving all our payments back plus interest, we have just received the first cheque for one of the PPI's totalling £7, 350.:T:j
a fantastic result and a lot of money back where it belongs,

What were you reclaiming: PPI
Who was the provider: Lloyds TSB
How much did you get back: £8,350.96:T
Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman:
One letter saying I have been a Local Gov employee for over 20 years and any redundancy or sickness would be well and truly covered and that I could have got a cheaper policy that would have covered me from 6 months onwards. There was no hesitation from them. Although I am waiting for the credit into my account I have called this evening to clarify the figures in their final calculation and have been told it will be within 5 working days.
One thing I have to say, Lloyds customer service team have been very good when I have called, they have a thankless task.
Thank you Di and others who have taken the time to reply.
One down four to go!:rotfl:
a great result, good luck with the other 4 :beer:I'm proud to say that the banks no longer take money from me after becoming debt free0 -
