Hi, im just about to start the process of reclaiming PPI on my Abbey loan but can anyone help me with sending off the questionnaire! I'm pretty sure its all filled in correctly as followed Martin's instructions but is this literally all i need to put in the envolope or does it need a cover letter etc?

Aslo I have enquired about cancelling PPI on my loan as i'm still paying for it but do i need to do this seperately or will they assume that i dont wish to carry on with it? they have given me an address to writ write to in order to cancel but will this be the same address that i should send the questionnaire to?

Any help and further info would be much appreciated, cheers

    Hi and welcome

You can send in a cover letter as well if you want to, personally I would do this and also request they cancel the PPI as well the same time.

If they have a separate dept for cancelling write to them as well, just to cover this both ways.

If you want to put a letter together, its best to write in your own words, just write that you enclose a Questionnaire in regards of a complaint of Payment Protection Insurance (PPI), and ask them to refer to the letter and that they refund you due to your reasons.
Tell them you look forward to hearing from them by 8 weeks.
There is a template letter to help you through this to make sure nothing is missed, here:
    http://image.guardian.co.uk/sys-files/Money/documents/2007/10/26/PPIreclaim.pdf

Then go on to say, you are also requesting that they cancel the PPI immediately.

Post all letters by recorded delivery this is your proof of posting.

Good luck with this, please keep us posted, and ask for help anytime.

Having spent a great deal of time reading all of the posts on this board I thought I would share my experience with you all as I think it is slightly different and may be helpful for someone else who applied for their loan online.

I applied for a loan online with egg in 2004 I didnt realise that I had taken out the ppi until I had been paying the loan for quite a while, but when I realised I could cancel it I did. Having seen many adverts on the TV and read many posts on this sight I thought that perhaps my ppi had been mis sold. I didnt recall opting into it and believe it was already selected for me in a pre ticked box when I made my application. So I sent one letter to egg stating that I believed my ppi had been mis sold because I had to opt out of it rather than choosing it myself and due to the fact that I was at the time, and still am now, employed in the public sector so would be covered from my work in the event I was ill etc. 1 week later I recieved a letter back from egg to say they were refunding me all of my ppi plus interest which came to a few pence short of £1900.

So for the cost of a stamp i am now £1900 better off because I had paid of the loan already. This could not have come at a better time as my partner is off work following an operation and his statutory sick pay doesnt go that far.

Hope this helps anyone else who applied for their loan online.

Just want to thank everyone on here who has helped with my boyfriends PPI! We got a letter on Saturday from HSBC saying although that they dont agree with what there saying that it was misold they will honour our request and are paying him 1730 back! We just have to cancel the loan and take it out again without the PPI on and send off the acceptance form and we will get the money. Well made up! So thanks again!
