What were you reclaiming: PPI
Who was the provider: Black Horse
How much did you get back: £2774.35
Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: Sent one email offer letter received within 24 hours.
And then write your brief reclaim tale: Searched FSA for Black horse PPI Director sent email directly to Paul Phillips, I had intended to post a copy recorded delivery today. Couldn’t believe it when I received a letter this morning saying they accept no responsibility but as a goodwill gesture they offered to refund £2774.35. I didn’t actually know how much I was due to be refunded I thought it might be £1000.00 was delighted to be offered £1955.36 plus 8 % interest £818.99 total amount £2774.35.
Thanks to Martin and everyone on MSE for the letter templates and excellent advice. By providing this information you make it possible for people like myself to have the knowledge and confidence to contact these companies to request a refund.
I know for a fact that if it wasn’t for MSE, I would not have been successfully reimbursed for the following:Bank charges £3150
Bank charges £266
PPI. Refund £2774
Grand Total £6190
I am waiting for a lung transplant and currently receiving benefits for the first time in my life, this extra money has made such a huge impact to my quality of life.“Thank you to everyone at Money Saving Expert from the bottom of my heart” :A :T :T :T

hi paul, if you dont mind me asking did you use a claims company to win with picture, if you did and you dont mind me asking how much was it , sorry to be nosy but some one on this site paid 25% of the win to one company. i think they target people who dont know that you can do what they can do and all for the cost of a stamp (or 2)
Hi, no I did it all on my own. I was prepared to give it another 6 months or so with the FSCS before I called in a company to do it for me. I do believe other 'commission' companies can do it faster as you are obviously paying for the service and they may not have the same workload on as the FSA/FSCS. However that said, if its with Picture, your compensation will come from the FSCS in any case, so it may not be any more beneficial - if you follow that!
All it cost me was 3 stamps for the 3 letters I sent initially, then all the further correspondence to the FSA/FSCS was pre-paid , plus a lot of patience!0 -

This is how you work out how much of the payment went towards the PPI.
You take the PPI amount and divide it by the PPI and loan (without interest) which is 26.97%. You then take 26.97% of the repayment and that comes to 138.90 and then times that by the 84 months totalling £11667.60. This is then what your total PPI (with interest) would have cost you if the loan went to term. They are refunding you £11991.95 which is about correct for the full amount of a refund. I do however note that 8% statutory interest is not included in this so maybe you could ask that this be done as it would be a bit extra.
As regards your extra £6000 that you would ask for then I cannot see them paying this as they are actually refunding you the whole of the PPI and interest.
Well done by the way...
I worry about my sanity sometimes but they are not taking the single premium off the outstanding loan just given me the payments ive made against it so i'm worse off
if i hadnt had the ppi i wouldnt have made £11000 worth of payments so surely i should get both the refund and the ppi removed from the loan accounts outstanding figure ???

What were you reclaiming: PPI on Loan
Who was the provider: HSBC
How much did you get back: £2688
Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: 1 Letter sent
And then write your brief reclaim tale: Sent off 1 letter from the templates on this site, received a response about a week later stating it was being investigated. Received another 3 weeks later stating they would not meet the 4 week deadline but had 8 weeks (according to FO) in which to complete the claim. Received a further letter 2 days before the 8 week time scale with the above offer. HSBC denies being in the wrong though!
Moneysavingexpert wins again. Cheers guys.0
