    Thanks for the reply
The basic facts are Original charge for PPI £3126.00
Irrespective of how long the PPI ran for I feel they should refund whole sum plus interest as I have overwhelming reasons that PPI was mis and I would never have been able to claim on it anyway.

I have since banged off an email to CEO at Nat West asking for full refund plus interest and as a customer of 32 years having stuck to all agreements and after not defaulting on any loans or other debts of any kind - I expect the bank to behave in a similar fair and honest way by refunding in full what is due to me.

I have asked Stephen Hester CEO at Nat West to let me know in his opinion if this is a fair settlement - It will be really interesting to see his reply if he has the courtesy to answer my email.

    Thanks
    Tom

    Hi

Read a few of your earlier posts re RBS, I would certainly check with RBS that this is the right amount. RBS originally offered me £388.00 for an £8k loan with £2,500 PPI, I questioned this and the next thing I knew I got a new offer with an apology for their mistake of £1,887!! (my loan was finished and paid off early). So best check with them. Mind you still waiting for my cheque and have been since sent my letter back on 3 September. Good Luck.

I was trying to re-claim PPI from HSBC bank for a loan I got, so I sent a letter under FOI asking for details of the load and theysaid they do not keep them once the loan has been paid off.

I then sent them a letter with the online form asking for the PPI back.

I received a letter back asking me to fill in the form I had already sent so sent it back again.

They then didn't contact me for 3 months so I sent them a strong letter explaining they had not contacted me and if they did not contact me by and specific date (7th October 2011) I was going to go to Ombudsman & FSA.

They sent me a letter which came yesturday offering me £1891.

    Result! thank you Martin Lewis

Additionaly I got a Letter from FSA regaring Welcome Finance so have another one in the pipeline.....

    Hi all,

I wondered if anyone had any advise on my below situation?

I used to have a joint secured loan with my ex partner from the Halifax which had PPI cover included on it. The loan ran from around 2004 to 2007 when we split up, sold the house and subsequently cleared the loan.

I believe I was miss sold the PPI cover however I'm not sure how to make a claim as the loan was in joint names and I'm no longer in touch with my ex (or even have a desire to get in touch!).

Is there anyway of me making a claim without involving my ex?

The loan was originally to consolidate all my unsecured debt after I'd been very silly as a young adult, I had to persuade my ex to let me stick the debt on the house as I couldn't afford the monthly payments anymore. I personally paid all the monthly payments on it throughout the 3 year life span of the loan and used all my share of the equity when selling to clear the loan, so it's not as if my ex would be owed any of this money back (although in the eyes of the bank it was a joint loan!)

Any advise would be of help.

    Thanks

Hi there,i am afraid as this was a joint loan, both applicants need to make the claim.
Who was the main applicant? if it was your husband then he would be the one with the most benefit from the ppi so they will need his signature.

Amersall, I'm going to say you are incorrect.

I have just claimed PPI back from several accounts from the Hx, two of which were old accounts in joint names with my ex, which I haven't seen for several years. One was an old mortgage, and one was a loan
You can put in a claim, without the ex knowing, you are entitled to a 50% share of whatever PPI maybe due. If the bank has a contact address for the ex, they will write to them seperately. When they have calculated it all, they will write to you seperately and send a cheque seperately.
I only found this out when I put in a claim for all my accounts to be reviewed.

Only thing in my case, is that the ex doesn't want his share, as he didn't pay off the loans.....I did, and as he hasn't seen his son in as many years, wants me to have it instead.....he doesn't have a bank account either, so although the bank has a contact address he has now supplied, will only issue a cheque to him, which is A/C payee only!!! We sat in the bank together yesterday, and they were adamant they would only pay his 50% to him, even though he was giving his permission to sign it across to me!
If I hadn't have found my ex, the bank would have held his 50% until he came forward to claim it. I have had one cheque so far that was from the joint claim, with a letter saying the other half will be issued to him when he has contacted them to do so.
  • What were you reclaiming:A credit card ppi

    Who was the provider: mbna

How much did you get back: £6600, interest included

Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: a letter based on the template on this site, plus a phone call to confirm receipt was all that it took.

I acted on behalf of my husband who is extremely busy. He had little faith but now is a believer!

Thanks Martin, and everyone for sharing your tips.

Was this loan settled early or did it run to term?.

For the maths wizards on here, could you post loan start and end date,if settled early the date it was settled, and the ppi total amount.
If this was front loaded the interest will be in the monthly ppi payment.Do you know what the monthly ppi payment was?.

What do you think you should have had back?.

Wish one of the maths people would help you with this,as if it has to go to FOS,the wait there could be up to 2 years.
