PPI Reclaiming successes and failures

I was reclaiming PPI sold to me with a loan from the EGG internet bank in 2004 (yes, 7 years ago).
The PPI charged on a £15000 loan was £2805. This is was the amount I was reclaiming.
I wrote to them using the standard form providing on this website, including my original loan agreement.
I sent the form on 23rd August, received a letter 2 weeks later explaining they were looking into my complaint but that it could take up to 24th Novemebr before I heard anything. Imagine my delight when I received a cheque in the post on 5th November for £5656.52. They had awarded me the amount in full plus interest and compensation.
Thanks Martin.
Unfortunately I have not had as much luck with the Yorkshire bank. They are currently stating that they have no records on file because the loan they gave me was too long ago (2002). I have resent the loan agreement amnd will keep you all posted.0 -

Original Loan taken out 2005 - this one had PPI, subsequent 3 loans had no PPI so do not count.
You will see that have made me an offer of a lessor sum (including interest) than I originally incurred - by the way it was a single premium of £3126 added to the loan and paid up front. I did not take out new PPI on subsequent loans so original PPI sum paid but never refunded in part or full. I still have the last loan running at present. Heres another question - can you insist on a cheque refund or do they just pay a refund to your existing loan account?
Tom
You will have been given all the ppi back..
Ppi £3,126.00 if you repaid this loan early,(can you clarify this?),as the difference in the ppi you paid and the redresss you recieved is £672.52,this could be the rebate they gave you when you settled the loan,so £672.52 plus the redress you got £2.453.67 totals the ppi you had on the loan,so in my view the redress is correct.
The £1673.67 looks to me to be the ppi you actually paid.
If the loan ran to term, you need to find out where the £672.52 has gone.
You should get the refund back to you as the loan is settled, some banks do this but some use it off any other debt you have with them, personally,i think this stinks as you paid this money out that you didnt need to and it should go back to you.
Give the bank a ring and ask how they will pay this back.0 -

I wondered if anyone had any advise on my below situation?
I used to have a joint secured loan with my ex partner from the Halifax which had PPI cover included on it. The loan ran from around 2004 to 2007 when we split up, sold the house and subsequently cleared the loan.
I believe I was miss sold the PPI cover however I'm not sure how to make a claim as the loan was in joint names and I'm no longer in touch with my ex (or even have a desire to get in touch!).
Is there anyway of me making a claim without involving my ex?
The loan was originally to consolidate all my unsecured debt after I'd been very silly as a young adult, I had to persuade my ex to let me stick the debt on the house as I couldn't afford the monthly payments anymore. I personally paid all the monthly payments on it throughout the 3 year life span of the loan and used all my share of the equity when selling to clear the loan, so it's not as if my ex would be owed any of this money back (although in the eyes of the bank it was a joint loan!)
Any advise would be of help.
Thanks
Who was the main applicant? if it was your husband then he would be the one with the most benefit from the ppi so they will need his signature.0 -
Haven't been on this site in weeks and way too many posts to catch up on so will just start from today I think :-) Hopefully all positive posts and everyone getting their money back ok so congrats if that's been the case
I had two complaints upheld by Lloyds but because they had no details and early loans 1996 and 1998, they agreed to pay £1200 for each loan.
I was very happy and waited a month for the cheques. One was in someone elses name!! Sent to my address and for the correct amount but no use to me. The other cheque was fine though :rotfl:
Anyway went back to CEO office and complained and said not good enough. Got my new cheque on Wednesday with an apology letter and a further £100!:j Thats my Lloyds complaints finalised anyway so great.
Barclays are driving me insane. Basicaly got a letter 30th August saying they couldn't trace my account number. My complaint was in from Oct 2010 and they tell me NOW they can't trace it. Stalling tactic as I gave them the account number and CC numbers. Emailed a strong letter to CEO and now they are investigating and have my details - funny that.
Got a letter from them this week saying they have 16 weeks to investigate blahblah I went daft and emailed back to say this is not a NEW complaint and they clearly hadn't investigate my claim at all previously and I expect a speedy response. CEO office said 7th October (today) and the letter from claims team next day said 16 weeks so who knows. Absolutely abysmal customer service from Barclays. Anyone else having same problems?

Hi there,i am afraid as this was a joint loan, both applicants need to make the claim.
Who was the main applicant? if it was your husband then he would be the one with the most benefit from the ppi so they will need his signature.
Oh well, never mind.
I'm not opening that closed closet with my ex for a few grand!!
Thanks for your advise0 -

Is there any chance that he could try to put a claim in?,especially with ppi being on the news recently.
You could ring the bank and ask how you proceed with this,i think they may tell you both signatures and it would depend who was first named borrower, but it may be worth asking.0 -
I know,doesnt it stink.

I believe that I was the first named, but having worked in the banking industry in the past I think that joint named loans are regarded as equal as far as the responsibility for the debt is concerned. Even if I could claim on my own and it was successful without my ex's signature on the complaint letter......the cheque would probably come out in joint names and be no use to me :rotfl:
Never mind, my new partner has had their Lloyds PPI claim upheld so I'll make sure they spend some of that on me instead0
